That was the first time I got to stand in the North Stand - remember queuing for tickets (in the freezing cold) for about 2-3 hours - Johnie Wark hit the bar
It was freezing and really windy! Watched the replay on TV that was an incredible game!

Ipswich 2 Charlton 0 FA cup fifth? Round 1981 Wark and Mariner? If memory serves
Mine was the week before when we beat Palace 3-2. Got in the ground at about 12.30 and it was packed. Was hooked and went the week after for the charlton cup game - all I recall is lots of red wigs in the Charlton end and it was indeed a 2-0 win.

My first match too although strictly speaking I only saw the last 20 minutes when they let you in for free. I was only 6. Can still remember Gerry Baker heading in from a corner at Churchmans end. Marvelous.
Remember having this discussion with someone at a pub in Yeovil and we said the same match. I guess you are the same bloke?
Yes, I was at Yeovil, was that in the pub in the backstreets. Happy days, Will renew my season tickets for next year.

No idea. All I know is that it was pre-77/78 and a reserve match. My old fella thought he'd break me in gently with a second string game, which I'll be eternally grateful for as he was a Villa fan. We were living in deepest darkest Suffolk so he thought I'd be best going to see a local team rather than his. (I've taken the same approach with my kids and they're both Swans fans, which makes it a lot more likely they'll see games. And it's where they're from at the end of the day).
I can vividly remember being there, but couldn't tell you who it was or what the score was. I spent as much time playing with my matchbox cars at the back of the west stand (well before Pioneer) as I did watching the match. Would have been somewhere between 4 and 6/7.
Was at highfield road for Coventry 0 Ipswich 4 on 28th Feb 1981. Can remember Steve McCall getting one of the goals. Was staying with family in nearby Leicester. Sat in home end with Dad, Uncle, and Cousin. Only 6.5 years old. Also remember listening to radio or watching highlights on TV for both legs of UEFA cup final.
