44. That's a proper age, that. Can't be gadding about at 44, still convincing yourself you're twenty-odd.
I'm off today, tomorrow and Friday. As well as next week. Meeting friends and comparing grey hairs and eye bags and wrinkles. Sat here, coffee steaming and birds singing, a glorious morning, my patio furniture cold to the touch. As though mindful of my birthday, the birds haven't squabbled or been trying it. Even saw a little wren. Lovely.
I'm reminded of events in my life, stuff I could have done better, been a bit more decisive over. It doesn't really matter any more. I thought I'd look for my childhood again today. So I'm going back to all the places I frequented when I was a kid; HP, Maldon, Walton Pier, Stone Point on the Naze; see f I can find the ghosts again, or something that resonates. I'm taking the laptop and dongle. I'll let you know.
