Evening Star getting hammered on 15:54 - May 22 by C_HealyIsAPleasure | Ipswich Star covers Ipswich and the surrounding area (Suffolk basically), EADT is the whole of East Anglia Obviously the same stories appear across both but basically the Ipswich Star has the Norfolk etc ones removed, and then some additional local ones that are somehow even more mundane than the ones that appear on EADT Clue was rather in the name... |
The EADT is(or certainly used to be) regional though, in paper form. I remember buying it in Chelmsford and it being pretty different to the issue my old man had bought in Sudbury that day.

Paper EADT covered the region by had sub-sections that differed by region I think - at least that’s how I remember it Haven’t actually read the paper copy in a while so no idea now!

The government provided £35m in funds to help local newspapers through this. Strangely though, the majority of it went to multi-billion-dollar US firm Gannett and 95% of other smaller papers/publications did not receive a penny.

Evening Star getting hammered on 15:40 - May 22 by jeera | Yes. Any tech types by jeera 17 May 2020 14:36Please.
The sound on my laptop has packed up. This includes Bluetooth added devices not working.
I have tried updating drivers and uninstalling/reinstalling.
They don't tend to have separate cards do they? It's going to be a motherboard thing isn't it.
Any advice gratefully received.
Edit: no I haven't pressed the mute button. Any ideas? |
That's me out then. Sorry.

There are no lessons to be learnt. If people want to stroke their chin and nod sagely while barely literate boomers rant and rave about foreigners and blue passports and anything else easily disproven that gets their bile going that's up to them. I'd rather stand up for what's right, point out why they're wrong, with facts and evidence, and then lose respect for them when they stick their fingers in their ears and ignore me. At least I won't be kowtowing to bigots and fools that way. This forum is bizarre sometimes. I guarantee that if women were still prevented from voting we would have people on here sermonising that those against it should be listened to with respect. You see, some opinions deserve contempt, and the funny thing is that the same people who think they're winning right now, aren't going to be exempt from suffering when their shït chickens come home to roost thanks to the way they voted. Used to be. I think it’s all the same now. Used to be an East edition and a West edition. Same as the Star though, used to be an early edition and a late edition and it would be all Ipswich and a few surrounding areas news. Years back that got scrapped and the Star went to one edition a day and it would be delivered with the morning papers, hence the name change. It’s gone way down hill but, haven’t all newspapers? It’s mostly adverts these days.

Evening Star getting hammered on 15:14 - May 22 by stringy | they've taken it down; what was the story about? |
Basically it was...no one buys our paper anymore, mainly because its poorly written, copy&pasted press releases and completely out of tune with its local readership, but it's all evil multinational internet companies fault instead for not paying enough tax,so give us money or demand government give us your money so we can carry on... There a great bit where they claim they challenge how tax payer money is spent, didnt challenge the millions spent on the Corn hill did they,or the waterfront, how about the traffic system, infact their editorial line is to belittle anyone who disagrees that spending alot of money on some poor quality monoliths, steps and crazy paving was a good idea, and then they wonder why no buys their paper any more I do literally know people who only buy it these days for the marriages/births/deaths bits and lining for cat litter trays
