I'm all for him now - after initially being underwhelmed. If used as a disruptive target man, he may be exactly what we need to bring other, more skilled players into play. An option we do not have.
And if Ruby Currie thinks he is better than Keiffer Moore we may have done well.
on reflection - If he was a straight swap with Harrison last year i would have welcomed it but this way we have made about 500k on the deal and no doubt saved some wages. |  |

All three signings strike me as the sort of journeymen who, under the right manager, could be real assets, coming in with something to prove, might benefit from a sympathetic manager willing to do a bit of coaching and play them in a way that brings out their best.

Parkin won me £100 bagging 2 goals & beating Leeds 17 odd years ago.
So he’s alright with me.

It was a bad treatment towards Parkin. Some people had been slating him for failing to score in the ... pre-season games. Some probably expected him to be instantly as prolific as either Bent/Kuqi.
His career with us wasn't helped by the ankle injury. |  | | |

Royle got it wrong. He thought he was getting an old fashioned big man and played him as such, and fans thinking we'd been had were not very complimentary or patient with Parkin as a result.
We'd put what little money we had into him too and were using him totally wrong. A bit like if Will Keane had been our main signing. |  |
