'there's always been a part of Allardyce that resented being pigeonholed as a survival specialist, that always longed to build something: the welder by day who dreams of being a dancer by night but is just too damn good at welding to give up the day job. Also, people keep asking him to weld things. Also, he's not actually that good at dancing'.
I don't like Allardyce, but by god did he build a great squad at Bolton. Back in our promotion years beating Bolton was a massive coup it felt with some amazing scouting taking place across europe.

Shame he's a tosser really.
Yep heck of a team he had there. He was also way ahead of time with the fitness and sports science stuff for his players. Another reason to employ him here

I'm sure that the 'more Technical Football at ITFC' crowd would love to see him appointed...
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Although the cost of those players, despite a lot of years of Premier League money, is part of the reason they are where they are now.

Bolton were bank-rolled for years by Eddie Davies to the tune of £175m & once he wanted out, the writing was on the wall. You can't blame Sam for investing what transfer budget he was given, though.

Remember when, in the wake of us and Leicester going into admin, Bolton were held up as a model for smaller clubs to aspire to? Turns out their masterplan was basically 'don't get relegated, for fool's sake'.
