That it's really, really tough to make the cut and that clubs will only pay good money for those they consider the very best players. You have to be better than that young player from elsewhere to get into contention. Which are universal truths, not limited to ITFC.
Fans are sentimental about home-grown players. Managers and clubs are not, primarily, they just need to win football matches. |  |

Because a lot of people unfortunately don't like to call out Ashton for anything that isn't completely positive.
We've gone from Hirst to a striker that hasn't got an experience or scored a single professional goal. Just imagine the uproar if this was under ME tenure with 2 days until the window closes we were sniffing around this youngster having been linked with far more experienced and proven players all summer. It'd be carnage on here.. | |

Is it though?
Nobody is 'letting' Simpson walk out the door, he wanted to leave and asked to do so in the summer, he was offered terms, believes he is worth more than that (which he is perfectly within his rights to do) so rejected the terms.
Could it not be a case of he isn't as highly rated by us as maybe some others think he is? | | | |
