Appleton is one of the most overrated managers of the last decade - I'm amazed he keeps getting decent jobs.

Judging by how well Newcastle and West Brom are doing in their "post Bruce bounce" at the moment that could be an inspired move if they're prepared to play the long game.

I did, my mate is one of the senior players there. That said I was also looking for a betting market for next Championship manager to be sacked, but Cardiff actually got rid of theirs first so I saved myself a few quid!

That's 14 of 24 Championship clubs to change manager this season

Perfect gig for one Mick McCarthy I’d say

We’ve dodged a bullet there, pretty sure he was gamechangers number 1 choice prior to Cook.

Short term until the rest of the season - definitely.

But not any longer or he’ll do more damage than good.

Gamechanger didn't appoint Cook, though.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I don't think 14 months is enough time for them to forget how badly ones neck hurts when watching his teams.

It would have made more sense for Evans to have appointed GameChangers' choice or left a caretaker in charge until GameChanger could appoint theirs though, wouldn't it?

Under those scenarios, if Appleton really was their first choice, he would have likely been the manager. That said, were the rumours that he was correct as McKenna seems a very different approach to that? And would Appleton have done any worse than Cook did either? It may well be that Appleton would have left a far better balance to the squad than Cook did.

All just ifs and buts anyway.

Good coach, bad manager seems to be the consensus. Not sure how much of that is outdated now either to be fair.

He's done a pretty good job generally where he has been bar aberration at start of career - Oxford especially.

It's McCarthy apparently to be announced shortly. Be careful what you wish for Blackpool.
