8 games. 4 home, 4 away. 2 of the top 6 as it stands, 2 top 6 contenders. 4 in the top 10 as it stands.

Derby a
Wycombe h
Cheltenham a
Charlton h
Port Vale h
Peterborough a
Barnsley a
Exeter h

For playoff form we need only to win our remaining home games and grad a couple of draws to keep that all ticketing over. But we don’t want ticking over! We need about 20 points to put any kind of pressure on Plymouth and keep Barnsley behind us.

I can find the 5 wins; Derby with us returning from cold, Peterborough after a tough few weeks followed by Barnsley a few days later are all much harder to call. It’s likely to be the same for all finishing up their remaining games. We have the squad.

Why can’t we take 2 more wins and a draw on top, therefore remaining unbeaten in April.

22 points in April takes us to 97 points…

Dare to dream.

The Derby game is huge. Teams have picked up points while we have had a little break, so the pressure is right back on us now.

Derby have seemed a little blunt of late and have been really leggy in recent games. They have carried a paper thin squad all season, comprised of some good experienced players, but also kids making up numbers on the bench. Perhaps running out of momentum and energy at the right time for us !

On the back of the last set and Broadhead scoring for Wales, Town take a clean sweep in April. Meanwhile Wednesday crumble after their shock loss at Forest Green and Plymouth struggle on the road. We lose at Fleetwood, but it doesn't matter by then. Ipswich champions, Barnsley second, Peterborough win the play-offs.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

That’s an understatement. Derby’s form is actually pretty dismal - lost 5 of their last 10.

I actually think they’ve overachieved given their off field problems and aging squad. On paper Bolton away was a tougher game.

But there is the McGoldrick factor….

Some weeks ago, I feared that we might need 98 pts to finish 2nd. I still fear that, based on the form and easy run-ins of the top 2. But we can't get 98 pts; we could get 97, or 99. I think we could well end on 97, but that may well not be enough...

Currently on 75 points with 9 games left and we can't get 98 points?

23 points from an available 27.
