Was chatting about this at the weekend with a mate who supports Barnet. It does seem a very Paul Cook state of affairs - "you've got the job done, lads. Just go out and have some fun in the remaining games, you've earned it." Can't imagine a KMc team doing anything like that in similar circumstances.

Cor no chance! He’d already be trying new things, for the upcoming season!

Reading their message board, fans seem generally to take the view it's no big deal, even if it's taken a bit of the sheen off the season. (At one point they were going after Wrexham's points record.) They didn't even try to win the FA Trophy, which should easily have been within their reach too. Some take the view that in the excitement of their huge lead in January, they rewarded too many players with extended contracts and that this might come back to bite them next season when they are subject to financial fair play rules. To which the sensible reply (and their site seems very sensible on the whole) was 'only time will tell'.

An old school, shouty coach wasn’t he? KM’s much more professional and I think that matters with today’s professionals. Steve Cooper came into my workplace when he was over here at Swansea and talked about the changes in how academies train youngsters now by involving them much more in the decisions and treating them more as equals. He reckoned younger players don’t often respond well to the old school hairdryer approach, as they’ve not experienced it through their development. At the time he was saying anyone under about 23 would be used to the modern approach, involving more analytics and involving the players in the discussions, spending more time talking around performance metrics and dissecting tactics, etc (this would have been about 3-4 yrs ago, so anyone now under 26/27 now). He reckoned that coaches and managers need to be continual learners and self-improvers themselves, show good emotional intelligence in their dealings with the players and be calm and make evidence-based decisions rather than be emotion-led. Looking back, his description of the ideal modern coach sounds as if he was describing Kieran.

Beachiest team ever? on 09:18 - Apr 17 with 1887 views | ipswichtillidie | Hopefully the answer to this question will soon be 1. Hull city - can not longer make play-offs 2. Coventry - hung over from semi final FA cup defeat and no longer possible to make to playoffs after 3 league games in a week to end with a 4th against Ipswich Town. 3 Huddersfield - relegated and already wearing the sunglasses
