I just had the option of chicken nuggets, chips, or pizza that has undercooked chicken on it.
I almost threw it at the cook. Even J2 could do better than that. After I have calmed down and had some sleep I am going to have to have words.

I've had vegan cheese. An ex-girlfriend used to make it and in all honesty it's as bad as you can imagine. I could never understand vegetarian bacon which is dreadful too. There's a wealth of things that people can make for both vegans and run of the mill vegetarians and it just takes a bit of imagination rather than making meat substitutes. Yotam Ottolenghi's vegetarian recipes are bloody lovely. |  | | |

Violite is the best vegan cheese. The Tesco blue and smoked cheeses are good too.
As for why have meat/dairy substitutes, mostly because many vegans don't give up meat because they don't enjoy the taste, and many people (at least in the modern day) turned vegan from a meat and dairy diet. Hotdogs, burgers, pizza and fried chicken all still taste good.
As for bacon, even when I was a meat eater I thought it was over rated. | |

Never understood this point about making it look like meat. What else can you make it look like? A non nondescript mass? People use meat in dishes, most don't just sit down to a plate of meat so making it look like mince/sausages etc is just common sense. Recipes just require a simple swap. | |
