It does look like the Tories called the election with a 20 point lead and Corbyn seen as a dead duck believing there would be minimal challenge and only the cursory scrutiny of their policies Result. Little substance, and lots of waffle with the right wing media doing it's best to portray Corbyn as the devil incarnate, rather than put up any case for the Tories. Maybe because there isn't one.

I think it was a case of trying to defend in indefensible. Other Tories seemed not to either understand or back the 'dementia tax'. Though with Boris Johnson it makes you wonder how well he will be briefed when involved in any brexit negotiations. Figures are not known by ministers time after time. No idea who will qylify for the winter fuel allowance and who will not. Was there really an agreement on a fox hunting vote, or did May just blurt it out ? The NI about face after the budget suggests all is not well in the Tory camp and the election was more one of trying to shore up May's position rather than any brexit guff. So unless she gains the big majority this gamble has gone for, they will be at each other like a sack of ferrets in the summer - just the back drop for brexit negotiations.

So, if I am hearing you correctly, you would quite like May to get a large majority to ensure the Brexit negotiations are not distracted by infighting?

Your last sentence said that they would be at each other like a sack of ferrets.....the implication being that this would be an unhelpful backdrop to brexit negotiations. Surely wishing ill on the brexit negotiations is borderline treason!?

BBC One - Theresa May Interview on 20:34 - May 22 with 2585 views | vilanovablue | That was basically a car crash! She tried to cram in the appropriate sound bites, however it was just awful so mealy mouthed. The presumption she would win when she called the election looks a little shaker today. NB: I still think she'll win handily as much as it sticks in my craw!

If she wins it will not be the majority she wanted and expected. With kippers heading back home she will want some kind of buttress ... a decent majority. A narrow win after the lead they had with x number of brexiteers backing her will suggest she is not up to. Unpopular policies may have to be dropped to retain others. A gamble (the election) that suggests the rift in the Tory party is as deep as it ever was.

Surely calling a General Election and having a six-week sabbatical from the Brexit Negotiations when you've just started the clock ticking is borderline treason? May-hem ensued.

Just wait till you hear from Corben, promising everything and no idea how to pay for it, except the usual left wing crap soak the rich. I guess for the many not the few means no one earning over the minimum wage, who do not pay taxes. The money tree is nearly empty, guess he will have to pull another rabbit out of the hat to pay for all those promises.
