Healy Deal Complete
Healy Deal Complete
Monday, 1st Feb 2010 16:58

Town have confirmed that Sunderland striker David Healy has completed his loan move to the Blues until the end of the season. Healy, consistently linked with Town during Jim Magilton's time as manager and again throughout the summer, joins his Black Cats team-mate Daryl Murphy at Portman Road.

Killyleagh-born Healy started his career with Manchester United, during which time he spent spells on loan at Port Vale and Preston, eventually signing on full-time with the Lilywhites in 2001.

After a loan spell at Norwich, Healy moved on to Leeds and then Fulham, before then-Sunderland boss Roy Keane paid the Cottagers £1.2 million for his services in August 2008.

The frontman, who has never replicated his Northern Ireland form of 35 goals in 78 games at club level, has made only three starts - none in the league - and 18 sub appearances since joining the Black Cats, scoring just three goals.

The 30-year-old, awarded an MBE for services to football in 2008, is contracted to Sunderland until the summer of 2011.

ITGIRL - spot on. Putting some of our whinging, deluded and to be perfectly candid unwelcome peers to shame.

Seriously guys. Those of you who are unhappy without even seeing two [loanees] play, please, please go and support Man U, Man C, Chelsea, or Liverpool. Maybe Arsenal.

You need a different form of gratification from your team. An altogether dull one.

(and it's embarrassing to real and realistic football fans to have you in our midst)

I'll also reiterate; loaning Priskin, is genius.

Mr Morris - the beauty of hindsight is that we can only see Sir Bobby's signings as simply wonderful.

As dannysigma astutely observes, at that the time did we all think that?

My suggestions is judge them not on what they have (or haven't done), wait until they have played in our team.

Priskin's move is about risk management; we don't have time to risk giving him a run to build his confidence. Let someone higher up the league do that for us.

You could spend a hundred grand on a car and it doesn't run properly, let someone else fix it for you, I say.

But then, I am merely a girl...

Those so called fans never mention the exceptionally good signings keane has made that have made an impact so far.
They outnumber the bad ones 4-3 and 3 new ones to make debuts still and 2 of the duff ones are young players with good records and bags of pottential that should be suported and could set the league alight next year

The underlining fact is they are all town players and should be encouraged and suported and made to feel welcomed... anything else other than doesnt belong in ipswich or on any ITFC message board its the kind of thing that should only be seen coming out of a canarys ass just after you pull your foot out.

A girl you maybe and I'm not entirely sure I agree with you about Priskin but you sure seem to talk sensibly and rationally with a coherent train of thought. Who would have believed it - a girl can do this too!!! More power to you ITGIRL!

The deal is done,we now have to bight the bullet, cant say im dancing in the street over these two, but lets face it,it cant get much worse [without relegation] so lets cross our fingers, legs, chuck salt over our shoulder, pray, or what ever that they can produce something more than we have had so far, survival is the only realistic target now. Its SH;T OR BUST . COYB

AAARRRGGGHHHH I can't help it I cannot believe how negative people are over these signings. I for one think that they are good signings, I really hope they prove the moaners wrong. Anyway you whingers, what you got to complain about? We're not in a great position in the table (but don't worry, 2nd half of the season is what it's all about now) Your team is flying high in League one and the Derby will be back on next season!

Welcome to the newly formed 'Sunderland Reserves' lads.......we now play in red and white just so they all feel like theyre back home.....what crap signings....how desperate is this muppet of a manager, have they got to be sunderland players or what? obviously cant attract anyone decent from anywhere else, you are a joke keano!!!!!

bergholtblue- well said.
For me the potential of Healy is exciting, he may turn out to be duff however until both of todays loan signings have played a few games we cant judge them one way or the other. The first few games will be vital though and hopefully they'll turn out good, which even the most negative person is surely hoping for?
Anyhoo i'm certainly looking forward to my trip down for boro and qpr, would be great to catch a glimpse of them.

ITGIRL can i say i have found your posts very refreshing today! I darent comment too often for fear of being accused of wearing rose coloured glasses - personally i like to think of myself as a glass half full rather than emtpy sort. There are so many awful things going on in this World, i dont wish to add to the woes by constantly being negative about my favourite team!

As for the signings. Well personally (and again i am but a girl) I think if Murphy has been signed as a wide left player then this is good news. WBA gave us a real lesson in using the full width of the pitch. With Walters on the right and Healy and Stead/Pablo/Wickham up front then this can only be an improvement on what we currently have. You only have to utube Master Healy to see he is a natural goal scorer. Also both have a big point to make - if they cannot prove themselves at what is a struggling championship side then their career's will all but be over! As many have said, who knows if they will make it here or not but 1. they are on loan and so can go back end of season if not and 2. lets judge them on performance in a town shirt, not idle speculation.

As for Prisken i really think he may have come good here given a fair run - but our current situation means we cannot sit about waiting for that to happen. Hopefully given a run for QPR he can gain in confidence and come back a differant player.

I suppose we now have to wait for these two to 'settle in' before they perform - by which time it will be the end of the season and time for them to go back. Have we ever, in the history of the Club, seen so much chopping and changing of players and still not getting results?

dirtydingusmagee added 20:45 - Feb 1
fair enough tractor lady, its just that if they fail, we will be league one ,so its not just a case of if they fail they can go back,im not being negative just pointing out something you may be overlooking .

OK! Enough negative comments. Lets support the boys from the off and give them confidence not negativity. Let's face it we don't want to end up where the Scum finished last year & I'm sure we won't but Let's be the Teams 12 man and sing them to victory between now & the end of the Season.

tractor_lady added 21:08 - Feb 1
dirtyding - point taken, but what i meant was at least we havent wasted millions on them.......... Also surely these two are better than what we had? We currently have no width at all and in desperate need of a wide left with Cheveley out for rest of season as long as Murphy fits that role and isnt stuck up front (as he isnt a prolific goal scorer!) Again utubed him and he is a big presence, and seems to be able to cross the ball, again something we have missed of late. With the right supply up front surely any of our strikers stand more chance than of late?
