Trotter and Millwall in Play-Offs
Trotter and Millwall in Play-Offs
Saturday, 8th May 2010 18:23

Midfielder Liam Trotter and his Millwall loan side are in the League One play-offs after a 3-2 victory over Swindon on Saturday afternoon. The Lions finished third in the division behind former Blue Richard Naylor’s Leeds, who have been promoted to the Championship in second.

Trotter, who has been offered a new contract by the Blues, will come up against ex-Town team-mates Jordan Rhodes and Gary Roberts when Millwall face Huddersfield in their play-off semi-finals.

Central defender Alex Bruce will also be in play-off action, in the Championship for Leicester, with the Foxes playing Cardiff City at the Walkers Stadium in their first leg on Sunday.

Elsewhere today, Colin Healy couldn’t prevent his Falkirk loan side from being relegated from the SPL, but Ed Upson had a better afternoon, starting his fifth game for Barnet as the Bees avoided relegation from League Two. The released midfielder will hope to be offered a permanent deal at Underhill in the summer.

Kevin Lisbie netted his 13th goal of the season in his final game for League One Colchester having been introduced as a second half sub. The striker, who has another year on his Town deal, netted from the penalty spot in the final minute as the U’s beat Leyton Orient 1-0.

Pim Balkestein missed out on Brentford’s final game of the season having undergone nose surgery earlier in the week as a result of his aerial collision in last week's game against Swindon.

Elsewhere, Grimsby, managed by former Town striker Neil Woods, whose squad includes Nick Colgan and Adam Proudlock, were relegated from the Football League after a 3-0 defeat at Burton Albion.

Fully agree Big Foot Blue. I also echo the Lisbie comment, sooner Keane sells him the better!

did anyone see the millwall highlights? Trotter played an amazing through ball from deep inside his half that led to the millwall second goal. Haven't seen alot of him but I also remember him play a peach of a pass to Morison at the back stick for Millwall's second at elland road. This is the kind of passing vision and creativity we have missed at times. Don't get me wrong, I think Leadbitter and Norris are a quality central midfield pair at this level... but I'm simply saying that trotter has a chance if he signs and works hard. i still belive he could shed a few pounds and improve on his mobility but watch this space...

Ashley - agree but then again Gary Roberts also has been superb for Huddersfield this season as well. Trotter should have pushed himself more at the start of the season otherwise why didn't he go to Scunthorpe for a longer contract. His level at present is championship/league 1 borderline and he should now know this and apply himself more when he's at Town.

Just to top off the ex-player round-up, Gary Roberts scored Huddersfield's first goal yesterday.

Well done to Liam - he is exactly the type of player for Millwall - not us sadly. Hopefully Roy will sell him and both parties can move on. The decision to offer Liam a contract is of course a good one as it automatically adds to his value!

As for Lisbie - I bet he's not welcome at PR. In fact he appears to annoy everyone. Give him a free. Jim really set us up with a simply awful player. Yet again Jim gives a useless player a big long contract. And people have the nerve to moan about Roy!

I like Trotter as a player and see no reason why he couldn't play a part in our squad next season.

@bennyblue - considering the way you feel about the club perhaps it's better you don't support us any more (if you call what you offer support) can suggest a team north of us they wear green and yellow and think they are just as good as the great team in yellow Brazil! Seems to be right up your alley......toddle off now.

Lisbie - sell him quick.

Trotter - interesting and I bet Millwall will offer him a contract which is why we did for if they do they have to pay us some money.

Bruce - Really pleased to see he had a good game for the foxes. Now I hope they lose to Cardiff because I can't see them buying Bruce if they get promoted and I don't want to see him back here.
