Fülöp Move Edging Closer
Fülöp Move Edging Closer

Town are close to completing their £750,000 move for Sunderland keeper Márton Fülöp, according to reports on Wearside. On Wednesday, Blues boss Roy Keane said he expected to know whether or not the deal would be done within 48 hours.

Fülöp is keen on a move to Portman Road in order to play first team football, but it is likely that the 27-year-old will have to take a pay-cut to make the switch, while the Black Cats may have to come to some settlement on the remaining year of the Hungarian international’s Stadium of Light contract.

According to the reports, all parties are now closer to an agreement and the deal now looks more likely to be completed than it did earlier in the week.

Fülöp is understood to have turned down newly-promoted La Liga side Hercules, while Anderlecht, Olympiakos and two unnamed Premier League sides have also been linked.

Good keeper, certainly an improvement on what we have.

Still uncertain whether a goalkeeper is a priority but Fulop is supposed to be a quality player and the point is to improve on what we have and I believe he will.

do well, hope he does come, he's still a very good keeper, and hopefully he can sort Tamas Priskin out lol, looking forward to seeing him in a town shirt, he will boss the defence, this can only be a positive signing

Pay cut, drop down a division, and still no guarantee of first team football. I still don't understand why he would want to come. Just to be closer to his old mate Priskin?

I really hope that this comes off - competition for #1 jersey is only a good thing. I haven't been convinced by Murphy - he's too "short and quiet!!!!" for me!

Good news - COYB

Couldnt see why a keeper is a priority however down a division and a pay cut just to play does impress me. Not sure that murphy has impressed keen enough, that has to be why we are buying a keeper and not a has been old pro

I've put my Ipswich shirt away and got a Sunderland for this season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who is going to score 20 goals this season? Not an Ipswich player.

Hope it comes off! Great age for a keeper and he played for the 5th best team in the Prem last season, can't believe this is still on the cards... £750 000 is a tastier price than a Mill. Flood gates... opening?

Strange one this. On one hand I think murphy can do a job so keeper isn't really a big deal. But on the other hand, I think fulop would be a BIG improvement and would be one of the few who could cut it in the premiership if we were ever to get there (although I can't see that happening). Also hope he wouldn't come here on silly wages.
Of all keanes transfer shenanigans I reckon this is best (albeit in the 5th position that I reckon needs addressing).

this'll be good for us and good for priskin too.
talking of keepers, as someone mentioned yesterday on the forum, it really was a case of the one who got away regarding jaroslav drobny's short spell with us a few years ago. he is a class apart, a great keeper. just about to start the new season with hamburg and i fully expect him to gain more plaudits.

boltzak-

That makes no sense what so ever you numpty.
why will you be wearing a Sunderland shirt?
They have/would have signed for us so that makes them a Ipswich player.......
No Sunderland shirt required..
i think he would be a excellant signing,

Fed up getting excited over potential signings......!
Will only believe it when it is confirmed he has signed.
I sure something will get in the way..... Sunderland raising the fee, Fullop wanting more cash, Mrs Fullop not liking suffolk, Fullop wants to be first choice, Fullop talks to Priskin who tells him we are such a joke......!

Sorry to sound so negative!

Please sign on the dotted line Fulop.
If we can start bringing in quality people like him then we might be more appealing to like likes of Chopra and Finnan.
Lets get this transfer ball rolling.
Anyone else going to the West ham match?

It beggers belife that some on here dont think we need a top keeper yes we need a goalscore but a big character in goal is a Must if we are serious about promotion!!

Ill be there robdaful,
think that will be a good marker post for where we are going to be going into the season.
i'm not really that bothered about the result as long as we get a performance.

would be nice to see the ball hit the back of the net a couple of times though just as a extra bit of comfidance for the lads... when i say hit the back of the net i mean west hams net..lol

Lets get one thing straight he aint taking no pay cut.

He will agree to come to us on less wages then he is on now with one year left on his current contract. Lets say he has a two year deal with us. He still has to agree compensation from Sunderland for the loss of earnings he would have got.

So the difference can either be agreed with Sunderland so he is takign the same wage to play here, for at least one year or even the two. Or he is asking to much from Sunderland and therefore trying to earn more from sunderland and us.

All footballers are gready, except Tarrico who cancelled his contract when he got injured, but could have stayed on.

'Help'-not all footballers are greedy. Just the vast majority of them.

You still get some model pro's who love the game, albeit they are a rarity.

Everything crossed on this one, Premiership quality keeper who would make a big difference to us. Those of you who think he would have to compete for his place are niave, Keane will be guaranteeing him the no 1 shirt to get him here.
