Fülöp Move Set to Go Through Wednesday
Fülöp Move Set to Go Through Wednesday
Tuesday, 3rd Aug 2010 23:49

Town are now expected to complete the signing of Sunderland keeper Márton Fülöp on Wednesday, despite newspaper reports linking Fulham with a move for the Hungarian international.

The Cottagers are said to have expressed an interest in the 27-year-old, but new manager Mark Hughes is now confident that he will keep Mark Schwarzer, who had been linked with Arsenal and who Fülöp had been ear-marked to replace: “We are in a position where we don't have to sell our better players.

"We want to progress and we are not in the position of letting our best players leave. Mark falls into that category.”

We are all fed up or Fulop with this. Sign on the dotted line or good riddance. Arran Lee Barrett is good enough to be number one anyway in my view so who needs him that badly?

I see Cardiff have turned down a £1 million bid from Notts Forest for Wittingham. If town want Chopra they will have to put in a serious bid
how about £7 million plus Stead and Martin for Whittingham and Chopra

O I can dream but what a team we would have

"£7 million plus Stead and Martin for Whittingham and Chopra"? Or £5m without Martin?

*Yawn* - BORING!!!! Our Transfer Talk this summer has been BORING!!!!

Anyone excited by the new season in what is going to be a very, very difficult division!? Not me....especially kicking off against Middlesborough who'll win the league this season. How the funk did they get Kris Boyd anyway!?

The reason I said Martin was his wages reported £12k a week or about 52k a game!!!
Dave Jones said he wants replacements so two of our fringe player to replace them and free up about 25k in wages. We have had 3 million turned down for Chopra (so the reports say) Cardiff have turned down a million for Whittingham. So 7 million might temp them as they owe so much money.

Only floor in my plan is the fact Stead and Martin might not want to go to Cardiff ha ha. Hear Torres want to stay at Liverpool so another target missed.

How long does it take to sign a player??? Come on Keane sort this out he is a must signing for us. It's a but worrying it's taking so long let's hope it's not so drawn out for any others coming in this week.

bloueblood1979- Keane has done his part in getting Fulop to agree to come here, its not down to that useless plank Clegg to agree personal terms and get him to sign on that dotted line, not Keane.

I first read the headline as "Fülöp Move Set to Go Through Wednesday" as in SHEFFIELD Wednesday .... d'oh! I was wondering what they had to do with it!!?!

Keanish Middlesboro got Boyd because their owner is a fan of the club and puts up the money. I don't see that commitment from Marcus Evans, we are just a corporate vehicle to him, Unless we sign big and soon and I can only see us mid table at best!

Has this actually happened yet? Its Wednesday and Bruce has already said goodbye and I'm sure is counting the new shiny pound coins on his table!!

Agreed keanish..this has without doubt been the most inept summer of transfer activity I can ever remember at our club...it's quite apt that our club badge has got a white horse on it cos that's all Keane (and Clegg) have been so far - white horses...all talk talk talk...I think they need to start making things happen on the pitch very quickly this season...my patience has gone beyond wearing thin.

All very well fans saying we've got so and so off the wage bill but we're left with a really small squad now..so much for Keane bringing in "better" replacements for the likes of David Wright,Bruce,Garvan etc etc...he's now covering up his own inability to attract anyone decent by saying that the kids will play a big part..yeah that's beacause you've got no other options you buffoon.

And before anyone starts the whole "negativity" issue..there's only two people responsible for any negativity at this club..Keane & Clegg.

He's been here nearly 18 months now and STILL hasn't sorted out a permanent right back...and am I right in thinking that Fulop will be his 6th goalie?!

If you look at how many have gone out and how many have come in the squad is weaker than last season, so your spot on devontractorboy I can't see us finishing in the top half.

Tend to agree with you lightening boy. I think frustration is the key word here. We expeted so much and nothing has really come of it. Lots of words, followed by periods of inactivity, I can't remember ever feeling so negative, probably due to high expectations driven by the management spin. I do think that we are not far off a good team, however we should be a lot closer this point of the year to a good team if not there already.
