New Boys Unveiled at Press Conference
New Boys Unveiled at Press Conference
Thursday, 5th Aug 2010 17:51

New signings Márton Fülöp and Mark Kennedy were unveiled at a Portman Road press conference with chief executive Simon Clegg this afternoon. Fülöp completed his £750,000 switch from Sunderland this morning, while Kennedy joined for £75,000 from Cardiff just over a week ago, both players signing two-year deals.

Fülöp told the club site that he is targeting a return to the Premier League: "The manager told me his plans here and I was really impressed with what he said about the club.

"I have come down from a Premier League club but my target is to get back playing at that level and that why I have joined a team like Ipswich.

"Hopefully we can have a good season and at the end of it, be at the top of the table. That is my target and the target for everyone here.

"I have been here for a day or two and have been really impressed with the training ground and everything about the club. It's a great set-up and I'm really looking forward to my time here."

We signed Kennedy ages ago, did we drag him along today to make up the numbers?

Good news about Fulop, but we desparately need to sign attackers with under two days to go until the season starts!!

Clegg was supposed to be the voice of Ipswich and the link to the fans. He has been almost silent for months. With that and the ticket prices, his performance is disappointing I think.

Great to have Fulop on board but if anyone mentions Michael fricking Chopra again..........!!!

I for one hope he's not mentioned again until he signs on the dotted line.

I personally think that Martin Fulop is an awesome keeper and he will definately keep Brian Murphy and Aaron Lee Barrett on their toes trying to compete for first place.

People keep mentioning about Michael Chopra but am i mistaken that he is injured i am sure i heard it from somewhere.

absolutely chuffed with Fulop and experience in Kennedy... I know for a fact that strikers would much prefer to play against a 6 '1 keeper than a 6 '6 giant with prem experience. I also know that keepers hate proven goalscorers... Chopra or Fryatt cough cough

Thanks Very Much JimmyJuan. And on your other point you made, Jason Scotland would be pretty handy if he played like he did at Swansea but wouldn't want him to be the only incoming striker.

Scotland would be a great addition. I can honestly see us getting two attacking players in the next week. I think that seems what Keanos train of thought is now. But for some strange reason people think that it has to be done by saturday. Whilst I agree going to Boro away first game seems daunting esp with their squad compared to ours, but at least this game, potentially one of the hardest of the season is out of the way straight away!

Then in next few weeks we get (dare i say it) Chopra in and one other, i'll be feeling a bit more confident. A bit being the key words there. Still need convincing but like true fans im not giving up hope!
