Keane: No Pablo Interest
Keane: No Pablo Interest
Friday, 13th Aug 2010 08:57

Town boss Roy Keane says the Blues are yet to receive any interest in outcast striker Pablo Couñago. The Spaniard has been left out of the last two squads after a bust-up with Keane at the recent friendly with a Spurs XI.

Keane says that despite reports claiming Couñago’s former boss George Burley will look to take him to Crystal Palace, there has so far been no enquiry: “Not one phone call regarding Pablo.”

The 31-year-old won’t be involved in Saturday’s home game against Burnley with Republic of Ireland U19 international Ronan Murray having gone ahead of the one-time Spain U21 international in the pecking order.

Its all about aspirations and the wanting to succeed... Keep Pablo and sack Keane! You cannot be serious?
Build a team around Pablo! You cannot be serious?
ha ha ha ha ha! dear oh dear!
Even if you judge him as a player and not a person, he is mediocre at best surely..
Wenger once said that he accepted defeat when Arsenal lost through the opoosition being better in terms of ability but never through lack of effort from his players - When did you last watch all 11 players at Portman Road on the pitch and thought they gave it 110%!!! This new wave of players with better attitudes will be a much better bet for a promotion push - No one player is bigger than the club! Keep faith in Keano and wave goodbye to the old boys club with player power... COYB's!

People on here banging on about how great pablo is. Is the point of this story lost on you ????......nobody wants him !! He is lazy has a bad attitude by the sounds of things and his goalscoring record for a striker is hardly fantastic. That is why nobody wants him !

Was a skillful player, but not particularly effective! I think it will be hard to get rid of him.

Seriously comments on ths site infuriate me sometimes, i would like to know where this prolific pablo that every one seems to know about is, show me him because i tell you what i have not seen him.

Some one brought up the fact that every one would have been singing his name after the coventry goal, yes that was a brilliant moment in an other wise terrible and inconsistent season, and i did sing his name but it wasnt because he is good but because what else was there to sing about for most of the season?

Are people really basing their opinions one of those once in a blue moon moments, that goal does not make him a good player, and can i just stress that Pablo is a stricker, how many goals does he score..... bugger all thats how many and strickers are good or bad based on the amount of goals they score therefore in my opinion get rid.

He is lazy and useless, when he has the ball a defender only has to breathe on him and he is on the floor, light weight sack of.....

I could rant on forever but i wont, it just annoys me because how people rate him so highly and defend him and have the insane opinion that we should get rid of keane and keep pablo, when we are looking to sign mcormack and scotland, who can score, is just beyond me.

With ya Blu the pro Keano he can do no wrong brigade seem to forget last year Priskin was dog dirt but Keano rates him now...............so alll the sheep follow suit
Pablo offered to stay for a 50% cut in wages last time he was here, he loves the club and area lets see how long Keane or priskin or most of the other players would hang around if a similar offer was made. Keane out he holds too many grudges and will upset nearly all at some point, man management..... zero

Pablo is staying at the club as he doesn't want to go.

Tillz9 got it right, pablo is such a good player that no other club wants him! Some fans need to get real and stop supporting pablo and start supporting ITFC.
Comparing Scotland's and pablo's championship records the other day showed me just how bad a player pablo actually is.

Pablo 219 games / 58 goals /18 assists - last season was pablo's 6th season in the chamipionship

Scotland 51 games / 24 goals / 9 assists - that was only in one season!

So in less than quarter the amount of games Scotland has score almost half the amount of goals and has half the amount of assists. I dont see how people can defend that record, he might have some skill but whats the point of having that skill if you rarely apply it! I honestly dont see how some fans have the nerve to say keep pablo and then expect Keano to gain promotion, the two dont go hand in hand. If you want us to progress then we have to get rid, simple as...he is a drain on resources thats it and the sooner some people realise that the better.

someone said pablo is past it at 31.does that make scotland past it.wadzillabhoy.pablo is not a goal scorer he gives the team alot tho wins free kicks and puts alot of pressure on defenders and makes things happen but i think pablo has had his better days now.as for scotland one good season thas it and is 31 whts wrong with players like lambert or austin will be a little bit more in cost but will have more years left in them than scotland.cant see why so many people are jumping up and down because we mite get him.COYB

Funny how sentimentality plays a big part of peoples opinions.

@Blu I would suggest that is why Keane is manager and not you.

I lie somewhere in between Pablo being a great player and him being crap. I like Pablo always have, his first spell with us he was fantastic his second not so good. I love to see loyalty as we had in the old days but I do wonder if Pablo is being loyal to the club or to his wallet? I feel pretty sure he didn't go to Swansea because they wouldn't match his wages that he gets here.

I agree his hold up play is the best we have when playing a 4-4-2 but with the formation we play now where are you going to play him? Can't out on the wings he isn't fast enough and he isn't going to run enough to play there. As the lone striker? He doesn't score enough nor knows where the goal is well enough to play that position.

He has one more year left on his contract and I think he will sit it out here as no other team will match his wages even if we give him a free. When his contract expires he will have to except lower wages from a club.

One thing I will not do is call him names, nor be vindictive about him. As I said at one time I thought him the best player he had, but times change, as do players and it's time for him to move on. I will thank him for the memories he left me.

I suspect Pablo is patiently waiting for us to have a crap start to the season, Keane to get the sack, and for the new manager to put him back in

I thought we are meant to support our teams players. As soon as there are any rumours of players moving, wanting to leave, not being wanted by keane, all the pro-keaners come out slagging that player off. The same ones that say no-one else should slag keane off because he's our manager and we should support him. Can't have it both ways.

I have said before that I am a Counago fan - but being realistic he isn't good enough. He's unlikely to leave (entirely up to him mind) and it's very unlikely that other clubs are going to pay his high wages (thanks Jim!) - especially for someone who scored 2 goals last season. A real shame, but I doubt we will see him play again for us.

stinkiusminkius, this is not about pro keane or not, Pablo (in my opinion of course) is not good enough and i have always said it about his second spell here, obviously i dont know you so you would not know.

When Keane get things wrong i will also have my opinion on that, i hated last season's inconsistencies and i thought Keane got so much wrong last season, however things are looking up, the players we are looking at are of a better standard than the likes of lee martin etc.

The issue here, and im only speaking for myself, is that Pablo is clearly not in the first team picture, there are reports of a bust up because he is not being played but why should Kean play him when he does not score, and his work rate is terrible on the pitch he looks lazy and uninterested.

If Keane played him every game of the season and he only scored 2 goals like last season and we got relegated then i wonder what your opinion of him would be then, not sayin it would happen if he played but what im getting at is the fact he does not score goals.

Ive heard people say he has not had the supply as well, but id like to point out that we created the most scoring chances in the league last season, it was our failure to score that was our problem, and i really dont think that Pablo is the man that is able to put these away.

There is a lot of blind affection for Pablo and i dont understand it, people where so quick to get on Priskins back because he didnt score, so tell me what is the difference between that and Pablo not scoring, why the blind affection for him?

Maybe Pabs is not needed anymore, but the way Keane threated him is really disrespectful.
Keane could have discuss things with Pablo out descently and make some efoorts and use some contacts to find him new club. Now he's just being told "get lost" and put him play with kids. Is that HR-leading year 2010? If I was on Pablo's shoes, I would cash my money just to pay back to Keane...

i think woodbridge town are looking for a striker(or a player who could score a goal at least!) £500 should do it!!

if keane could not get last years team to perform what makes people think he can get this years ?we have to give him 5 or 6 games and see if it is keane that is the problem if we are in top 5 he should be left for rest of contract otherwise maybe its time to get someone in early

just because some people dislike pablo as a player doesn't make them the untrained eye.i've been going to footy nearly 40 years and i tell you he is not class.people also have a right to complain, they spend their hard earned money to watch games.if you payed a plumber to do some work in your house and the job was poor you'd moan about it wouldn't you!
