QPR Club Making New Move for Walters
QPR Club Making New Move for Walters
Tuesday, 17th Aug 2010 12:26

QPR are again reported to be the club from outside the Premier League who have made an offer for ex-skipper Jon Walters. The Hoops are understood to be ready to pay more than £3 million for the 26-year-old, although appear yet to meet the Blues’ valuation which is nearer £4 million.

Neil Warnock’s club, who were previously reported to have offered the Blues £2.5 million for the former Chester man, are also said to be unwilling to meet Walters’s current terms at Town, which have two years to run.

The player is in any case less than certain to accept a move to London with Walters and his wife long understood to want a return to the north. Stoke City appears their preferred destination with West Brom also interested and Middlesbrough linked earlier today.

Walters, who sold his house in Suffolk earlier in the year, is also reported to have made a complaint to the club regarding bullying by Keane, a claim which is believed to have been dismissed.

The Republic of Ireland B international is also said to have been the player who recently refused to keep to his contracted media commitments, failing to take part in a Sky Sports interview with two team-mates while wearing a Town shirt. Keane refused to confirm the identity of the player involved when asked last week.

Over the weekend, in the wake of Friday’s bust-up, the Town manager said he was hoping that Walters, his one-time blue-eyed boy, could be moved on sooner rather than later: “We hope a deal can be done quickly, but we’ve heard that one before and until we get the fee we’re happy with it’ll drag on a little bit longer.”

As Keane mentioned, doesn't matter if we sell him to another Championship club, the sooner he goes the better so we can spend - I forsee a double swoop and oneadditional player on loan.
Still think (and hope) Chopra is on his way to Ipswich. Keane desperately wants the $$ from Walters to spend and maybe its for an improved offer on Chopra who Cardiff may be willing to let go now that they have Bellamy (no transfer fee) so it gives them cash to help their situation and they also have a replacement striker on loan so maybe haven't heard the last of this one.

On a completed unrelated topic, watever happenned to Sixto Peralta?

Bring Sixto back!! Last seen in the champions league with a Romanian club.

This is getting ugly with Walters, agree the fee as quickly as possible and re-invest in a solid midfielder and proven striker. Dont want to upset the good team spirit and morale that we saw on saturday.

If... and i do mean if the bid for walters is at or over £3 Million then take it. I know these prices do get inflated in the media but we need him off the books soon and have the money in the bank. Accepting a bid, albeit from QPR will force others into firming up their interest.

How would we ever get promoted with footballers who are so inclined to the status quo that they even demand geographically where they play?

Walters doesn't know he's born.

Fair play to him for trying to make everything fit into his life; but it's hardly an inspiring modus operandi.

Confused

How can a club who are reported to be 40 Miliion in debt (Cardiff) sign a player like Bellamy who is reported on 50k a week in two days, Yet Ipswich (not in debt thanks to ME Millions) who are so very very very close to signing Scotland 2 weeks ago(reported 15k a week) still have not closed the deal.
Come on Clegg and ME get your fingers out.
Keane said we would have 3 new signings by Saturday, still cant see it.

Jon been good for Ipswich, but Keano is right this time in that he's (Jon) gone about things the wrong way. £3m Seems a good deal, not sure we'll get anything like £4m - not even sure the execs are capable of doing any business right now.

2 Games in and the transfers are not as good as it could have been. However, progress is progress and the chances the young'uns are getting is a real breath of fresh air and reflects the England situation to a degree.

Get shot of Jon ASAP if only to keep the atmosphere away from the youth!

so moving back to N/W is suddenly not important any more! it looks like JW's plan has backfired but i guess he'll be paid more!!

!! Typical, Cardiff had no money, big problems etc etc Now they've got Bellamy, Boothroyd & Chopra as a front line! McCormack out and Bellamy in on a Season Loan. Whilst Bellamy's heart is in Cardiff, I'm still shocked at that front line in the Championship.

Surely, £4m for Chopra and get the deal done ?? Can't see Jon going to QPR even if they are the only squad to match the ITFC valuation. I agree that accepting a bid may force the hand of WBA or Stoke?

I wish players would stop hiding behind their wives.... its pitiful!

Try living in the real world!! Move back to the NW when 35 and have millions!!

I bet his wife wishes he had stayed at Chester on £500 per week!!

With Bellamy at Cardiff and with that front line this is Cardiff's best chance of reaching the Premiership so I don't see Chopra throwing that chance aside by moving elsewhere.

Yes! Do it fast so that QPR or whoever the silly club is don't have enough time to rethink the stupid move. Walters doesn't cost more than 1.5M to me. And this is my opinion made up long before he asked for transfer when he was a "hero" in the eyes of many... He was never a good striker and he had mixed performances on the wing so get rid and get a quality striker for the money!

The only way Cardiff can have Bellamy is if his wages are paid by outsiders ( Man City ) for instance . Celtic could not afford him ( said he would need to take a £70k per week cut to go there ) !!!! I begin to get the feeling our promises of new signings is going to come to nought and we will become also-rans again !

Dont think Chopra will go anywhere if Bellamy goes to Cardiff as his gripe was 'lack of ambition'.
Also doubt Walters will go to QPR even if they agree the £4m or whatever. Little problem of his wages...again.
Only a premier team could afford them I reckon.

Just take the 3 million. Good business!

So what happens if QPR offer £3m + and he refuses to go, do we let him go for under £3m to Stoke, 'Boro or WBA? We can't leave him stewing where he is?

hahaha i was talking about Sixto just the other day with some mates. He is currently 'unattached'.....Keano snap him up!

I remember so many Keane comments about JW's amazing "character" and using it to somehow condem players like Garvan. Garvan left stating his real regret at having to leave and how much he wanted to succeed at Ipswich. Whereas Walters will be leaving stating he doesn't give a toss about Ipswich.
Makes me question RK's judge of "character".
Anyway £3 million is a blinding deal - well done Jim!

The hoops are ready to pay more than 3m.
I'd say sell but tell the other intrested clubs and we could be getting 4m.
