QPR Club Making New Move for Walters
QPR Club Making New Move for Walters
Tuesday, 17th Aug 2010 12:26

QPR are again reported to be the club from outside the Premier League who have made an offer for ex-skipper Jon Walters. The Hoops are understood to be ready to pay more than £3 million for the 26-year-old, although appear yet to meet the Blues’ valuation which is nearer £4 million.

Neil Warnock’s club, who were previously reported to have offered the Blues £2.5 million for the former Chester man, are also said to be unwilling to meet Walters’s current terms at Town, which have two years to run.

The player is in any case less than certain to accept a move to London with Walters and his wife long understood to want a return to the north. Stoke City appears their preferred destination with West Brom also interested and Middlesbrough linked earlier today.

Walters, who sold his house in Suffolk earlier in the year, is also reported to have made a complaint to the club regarding bullying by Keane, a claim which is believed to have been dismissed.

The Republic of Ireland B international is also said to have been the player who recently refused to keep to his contracted media commitments, failing to take part in a Sky Sports interview with two team-mates while wearing a Town shirt. Keane refused to confirm the identity of the player involved when asked last week.

Over the weekend, in the wake of Friday’s bust-up, the Town manager said he was hoping that Walters, his one-time blue-eyed boy, could be moved on sooner rather than later: “We hope a deal can be done quickly, but we’ve heard that one before and until we get the fee we’re happy with it’ll drag on a little bit longer.”

with the ever-growing breakdowns of hopeful transfers, next we'll probably see Ipswich reject all offers for Walters only to see him rot in the stands. Keane doesn't strike me as a man to go back on his word!

come on Marcus - lets nail a couple of signings and really get the wheels rolling on the path to glory!!!

P.S. Clarke Carlisle i hate you....stick to countdown

Is Jon Walters serious, complaints of bullying lol seems to me that his plans to go to Stoke dont look like they will happen so to try and get out other than a move is to complain and hope he gets a release or cause more rubbish.

This saga has really gotten out of hand, i would like to know why Jon Walters thinks he should have remained club captain even though he wants to leave the club, that really baffles me and he has the cheek to kick off about it. In my opinion Keane has got this one right, the club captain is meant to be someone committed to the cause and the tram not some pre madonna who wants to leave for the prem.

I do feel bad because untill this happened i liked Jon Walters, not the plaer he was in the first season but a good work horse and dependable, unless there is something ive missed then he really has shown his real character.

PutYaBootsonKeano - how dare Jon Walters want to work for a new employers in an area he wants to live!

I bet you've never wanted to change jobs and your happily forced to work in a town you don't want to live in.

Or maybe not.

Triggs - that'll be Magilton...signed Walters for a mere snip...so yes he does deserve credit if he goes for anything in the £3mill mark or even (gasp)£4mill (surely not though...)

I think you might find that the course of events surrounding Walters and the bust up with RK is slightly different to what is being reported/discussed on here. I have no proof, only a keen eye for detail and a good memory on what has/hasn't been said.

Bear with me a while… If I'm right, then I think this is what happened: Walters went to RK and told him he wanted to leave (This was a few weeks ago, not last week! RK said last week that Walters had come to him 3 weeks previous and asked for a move.); now we carry on regardless, get the Walters was 2nd best player in Championship last year quote; (Obviously bigging him up for a better fee as if RK knew 3 weeks ago, then he knew when he said this…) everything to the outside world is normal, Walters is captain at Middlesbrough, again to keep that fee up; then we get to last Tuesday… A cup game at Exeter and all of a sudden Walters has a mysterious virus and can't play… RK even mentioned it once last week (briefly) saying he couldn't prove if players were feigning illness… this is what got RK's back up more than anything… this is why Walters was stripped of the captaincy… but of course RK couldn't prove anything so won't make a big song and dance about it, but decided to act by taking away the armband (reasonable for either reason) Walters does a big barney, and then RK says enough is enough… your outta here!

As I've said, not based on fact, but based on innuendo and brief comments made… and it does fit the facts better than RK taking the armband away coz he asked for a move… he would have done that pre-Middlesbrough if that was the case. Sounds to me that Walters has been a bit of a naughty boy on this one and so I say so long, farewell Walters, your time is up!

SiBo - what's your theory on the death of JFK?

zippyrainbow added 15:30 - Aug 17
I think SiBo is correct actually. Since our manager is a borderline nut job, that reasoning seems feasible to me.

Walters has just been spotted arriving at QPR. I guess he is going. I just hope we get the fee.

ITFC_CT - I hope you are right. Like I said earlier, there is clearly no way back for him now. Grab the money and go out and buy someone who wants to play for this football club. Be interesting to see how Walters does at his new club !!!!

i agree with SiBo reasoning but would not be haapy if JW ended up at QPR. Clearly they're making a big push for Premiership but JW's big plan for Premiership club near home is fast evaporating. Stoke seem to have cooled as they cant get moving on other deals that would have given space for JW. WBA dont seem to be buying in the knowledge that they'll be relegated anyway! Brough is a red herring so looks like all the mind games has resulted in QPR getting their man

Yawny yawn yawn yawn... News, not gossip please Mr Ham. If I wanted rumour I would buy the eadt or one of the national rags. Interviews with the younguns? Seniors? Comments from the groundsman? Caterers? I hear the pies were foul at the weekend. How about a special with the wags. Pics and views of Pablos missus? How's Magic doing these days? What does Burley think of the current mess and huge debt owed to Marcus evans? Sheepshanks? A great start to the season for the team but this site, after many years of sterling work is going right down hill. Or do the majority of the visitors enjoy the current nonsense?

I've heard medical today and a fee of £3.2mill. Don't know why they are paying that, should be £3.20. Happy, Happy days.

would be inclined to agree with SiBo - you must remember that Keane himself was accused by Mick McCarthy in Siapon of feigning injury....now I'd rather not say anymore....being Irish and all that!!!!

stuff the bloody lot of 'em tbh !

These footballers dont know they are born with their £million contracts for being basically average footballers in the second tier of the game FFS!!

It will be best for all concerned when this guy is sold. He wants to go - we want to sell him. I would be disappointed if he went to a London club though - surely he is only after a move back up North. All this rumour is doing nothing for the club. Lets get these deals done!

Anybody actually watched QPR lately ??
They signed Abdel Taraabt from spurs for £1m, and he is a far, far better player than Walters will ever be !
So, why on earth would they pay over £3m for Walters ?
I will be astounded if they do !
(can't believe Bellamy has gone to cardiff, was silently hoping that we were talking to him, and where the hell have they got the money from ??)
