Walters Off to Stoke City
Walters Off to Stoke City
Wednesday, 18th Aug 2010 15:33

Former Town skipper Jon Walters is set to complete his £3 million move to Stoke City this afternoon.

The Potters are understood to have made renewed attempts to land the 26-year-old in the wake of QPR's interest at the end of last week.

Walters has been at the Britannia Stadium undergoing a medical this afternoon and is expected to sign on the dotted line.

Great news, £3m is a real good bit of business.

Now go spend the money on what we need, a striker to supplement Stead, Wickham (if he's staying) and Priskin.

good, he was a good player, but if he doesn't want to play for the club then i think we're getting good buisness for him- 3 mill, he may be good but he's not that good- now we have the chance to bring in a high quality striker!

But good luck to him, i hope he will do well in the prem

Good luck mr Walters and thank you for your 100% effort in every game, even when you were clearly exhausted and being overplayed. A slightly messy end to your tenure here but I'm not going to join in with the petty fickle meatheads and slag you off. You put in more workrate in every game than most do in a whole season, plus it's a fantastic wodge of money for us, so thanks.

Good a few seasons ago but nothing special for the last two. I'd rather he hadn't left under the cloud he has but all in all a good deal, for us. Are we really getting 3 million for him though? Chopra please as they don't need him now bellamy's there.

Goodby and good luck Jonno. Shame it ended in bitterness, but hopefully it's a move that's good for you and for ITFC.

Now let's go buy some strikeforce action, please Keano!!!

Good luck Jon. Good luck in the Prem (and good luck getting a game). I'm sure this last week won't be all you're remembered for. I feel it's a shame we're losing one of the players who always gave, if not his best, at least better than most. A good player... but better money. COYB.

£3m is amazing for a bloke we bought for 100k! I'm sure the QPR bid was accepted and news of it made very public by the club to firm up Stoke & West Brom interest.

Great first season but average ever since. Still always gave 100% for Town and you can't blame him for wanting a PL move. I'd give him a cheer if he ever comes back to Portman Road. Every Town fan now seems to hate him but not once have I seen Walters speak out in public during the last few weeks, it's always been Keane bitching and moaning about him. The whole saga should have been kept behind closed doors and thanks to our manager it wasn't.

Yabba Dabba Do.... Wahey... Yee Haa

£3 million plus for that guy has to one very good business indeed....

Sorry, but never been a fan of him,
he's only been effective when played on the right side and he's also lost that early pace he showed earlier on.

Best outgoing transfer deal since the £5 million for Titus Bramble :-)

Glad he's gone....not worth anything near 3 mill and will suit the boring style of football that they play. we will be a better team with him gone

Keane said 3 in and 2 gone by the weekend

Shame to see him go, but family pressure to move back north, plus the possibility to play in Premier League. You can't really blame him, even if he has handled it badly. Stoke much to blame, because Pulis was allegedly using underhand tactics, trying to get him on the cheap, approaching the player's agent direct, rather than the formal way through ITFC. Good job others were interested in him, which means we got a decent fee in the end. Up yours Stoke. Horrible football team, all kick & rush, big strong and no class.

muhrensleftfoot; "Pressure to move back north"..... jeez, give me a break. Thses footballers really annoy me using their wives as an excuse.

'The family have settled' = Agent speak for 'my client is seeking a move, but hasnt got the balls to say it and doesnt want to lose out on a loyalty bonus'.
