massive mistake, he is an all round brilliant centre forward and we will rue this decision.

no doubt he will put one past us on saturday.......lets just hope scotland puts a couple in the opposite net.

im begging for a final bid on chopra, fingers crossed. BLUE ARMY!

I'm really disappointed that he's gone because I thought he's always been outstanding for us. Always been my favourite player.

Cya Steadinho - good luck!!

Always liked Stead's attitude, but fear he did not score enough goals to keep his first team place. Wages probably too high for a benchwarmer, so he had to go. Good luck though, John, you go with all our best wishes.

Worst deal of the season ! Good luck to Steady with BC but I fear for you with that t--t in goal !! He is lucky anyone wants him with his history . You always gave of your best without being fully appreciated ! Good players like you should not be treated so poorly !

Don't blame Keane! ME wanted him off the wage bill.

Although I'm not a massive fan, I must admit I've been very impressed with his contribution this season - a real pro amid all the speculation. Good luck Steaddy and thanks.

Best of luck to Jon. Reading between the lines this was a decision made by Clegg and Evans. Sadly, Jon's massive wage didn't help.

If you find yourself sitting in the wrong dugout, we'll understand.

I wouldnt of sold him, but i recon Keane was told to, because after his start to the season he wanted to keep him, as he stated Stead had been very good. Why did we sell him to Bristol City now? Why not after the weekend, and why didnt he sign for Blackpool to be in the Prem? Really liked Stead and hope he does well.

A whole hearted player whom I wish well;but surely at such a low price Clegg could have insisted he did not play against us at the end of this week?

Do we actually think Steads wage would have been that much different to Scotlands (or Chopras, if we were to get him)? Because i don't. This is because keane ultimately doesn't like him, despite publically saying otherwise. There are certain players he just doesn't get on with. And I bet Priskin is on a fairly decent wage too.
I hope keane knows what he's doing. Which last season I would have laughed at, but he has shown signs of having a vague clue this season.

B*gger! Sorry to see him go - not the fabled 20+ goals a season man, but a decent player who will be sorely missed.

Good luck Steady, except when we face you!

Not surprised and not that upset except the timing of it as it leaves us very short.

The thing that anoys me most though is that he can play against us on saturday! Correct me if I am wrong but I am sure that most similar deals have a clause in them that says the player can't play against the selling club if they play each other in the same week. Even if not, don't see why we couldn't include one!

I think many of us have been impressed by Stead this season but it was not allways so, a real mixture of decent and poor games last season, i wonder if the uptern in his form had anything to do with the fact that he was in the last year of his contract.IF anyone is botherd you can look back 11 months and see the comments on this board, not much support for him then, and very little whem Jim brought him in.I suppose that the way of the fickle footie fan.Good luck Steady.

Good luck Steady... starting Sunday. I'm sure you'll get a warm welcome at PR.

Thought there might be some sort of gentlemans agreement over him not playing against us next weekend?

BCFC got you at a knock down price but no doubt this free's up wages for additional player when the loan deal merrygoround starts

Bristol have a good forward line with Haynes and Maynard there. Plently of pace and potential at Ashton Gate

this is almost as damning to our chances of success as when he went to Coventry on loan last season. We may as well withdraw from the league now

I'm dispointed but I think deep down we all knew Keane wanted Stead out as soon as Keane took over.
I'd prefer Scotland over Stead. Hopefully Stead won't have settled by our game and he won't perform well.
