Town are closing in on a loan move for Plymouth striker Rory Fallon, according to reports in the South-West. The 28-year-old is a New Zealand team-mate of Blues defender Tommy Smith.

Fallon played youth football with North Shore United in his home country before joining Barnsley as a 17-year-old. The 6ft 3in tall frontman has subsequently played for Shrewsbury (loan), Swindon, Yeovil (loan) and Swansea before signing for the Pilgrims for £300,000 in January 2007.

The one-time England U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 international target man - he reverted to playing for New Zealand in 2009 - has scored 19 goals in 84 starts and 57 sub appearances for Argyle.

For New Zealand he has scored three goals in 10 games and played in all three matches at the World Cup in South Africa, having netted the goal which secured qualification via a 1-0 play-off second leg victory over Bahrain.

Town and Plymouth are believed in talks with 5pm today the deadline for Championship clubs to make loan signings.

will this see the departure of Wickham in January? hence the behind closed doors trial... I mean friendly with Spurs yesterday.

Would be happy with Zuiverloon if it comes off.

19 goals in 129 games for Plymouth, that's only 1 goal in 7 games many of which were at a lower level than we play at (and probably with better service)! If £1.7M Priskin and "£10M-rated" Wickham can't get in the team, how can Fallon?

Right, avid Town fan here living in Plymouth and has seen Mr Fallon play for PAFC on numerous occasions. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THIS WORTHLESS IDIOT. I work in an office full of Argyle season ticket holders who are literally laughing at me. DON'T DO IT MR KEANE

Not exactly a hero at Plymouth at the moment, but it is hard being good when the fans keep booing you. Surprised he wants to come to Ipswich then. They boo before he has even pulled a blue shirt on!

Some of you lot are unbelievable. One minute you're complaining because we have loan players from the premiership and you want players from the lower leagues then when we might get one you still complain. Mackie at qpr came from plymouth and was average last season for them and look at him now.

KEANO!

got to give him a chance,he could come good, the fact he hasnt a great scoring record could be that he can only be as good as the team played for.......oh sh;t.
