Keane at Coventry

Town boss Roy Keane took in next opponents Coventry’s 2-0 defeat to QPR at the Ricoh Arena this lunchtime with the Blues not in action after yesterday’s postponement of the game at Doncaster.

The Sky Blues fell to their third successive defeat as an own goal from keeper Keiren Westwood and a second from Tommy Smith won the day for Neil Warnock’s Championship leaders.

Coventry winger Gary McSheffrey picked up his fifth yellow card and will miss the game against the Blues. Icelandic midfielder Aron Gunnarsson is also unavailable as he is serving the third game of a three-match suspension.

Town have dropped to 18th in the table after today’s games, four points off the relegation zone having played a game more than Scunthorpe in 22nd and one fewer than Bristol City, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough in between.

Hope he was there taking tips off QPR who have spent less money than us yet play much more entertaining football with all those extra points, sad thing is if Taraabt for example was our player he wouldn't get a run in the team anyway as for the 1 or 2 things that he does that doesn't come off Royston wouldn't put up with it and he probably doesn't know how to foul either.

might be more appropriate to ask "what player was he running his eye over" just before the Jan window opens?

If you think QPR have spent less money than Ipswich you have just returned from a very long space excursion.

4 points off the relegation zone having played 1 game more than Scunthorpe and Clegg is "still very excited about what we can achieve this campaign"! It's true that QPR have spent more than Ipswich, but I don't think Coventry have and they are still 7th. Keane has had plenty of money to spend during his time here yet for the second season running we have very real relegation fears going into the New Year. Being below the likes of Barnsley and Doncaster, and 13 places behind Norwich, is totally unacceptable. The transfer window opens in a few days so let's replace Keane with a manager who knows what he is doing to take us to safety and build for next season.

make or break time for town, hmmm thats unusual, all we're missing is the rallying call from whichever player is in favour at the moment.

It will be very telling to see how much cash clowno is given to spend in thetransfer window.

Right Roy no excuses not to get three points on saturday! They have played two real tough games against 1st and 2nd and we played none. So we should be miles fresher and fitter than them; they have lost both so will be not such good form keane has also had them watched plus we have had extra training time for team to be worked on this week no excuses Keane this time!

There are a lot of teams in this league that are no better or no worse than Town, this is one of the tightest leagues going so yes we may be 4 points of the drop but then we are only 6 points off being in the mix.

Thank goodness we did not play Watford on sun. because they are really on all four wheels at the moment. I hope by the time we play them the sting might have gone out of there tails. I have noticed that the teams we play in the near future are all finding some sort of form.
How on earth have Norwich and Leeds (who were in div.1 last season) manage to be sitting comfortably in the top 5, with little money is beyond belief, and us in our position !!!!!
We must beat Coventry on Sat. no iffs or buts about it please

Why did he go to Coventry, presumably at the club's (and therefore ultimately our) expense?

Has he not got Sky Sports?

come on Big Gaz67

Got a feeling that he goes so he can look at what he wants and not some kid waving at the camera in a santa hat

QPR spent less money than us? Are you joking?! Magilton spent a fortune at QPR and Warnock has also been backed in the transfer market.

readthelaeguetable: I definatly have not been in outer space and ok I will say you maybe correct but if so it would be by a very small margain. Faurlin did cost 3.5m but Taraabt was 600k only and most other players were loans, frees or cheaps ie, Derry, Walker, Hill, Smith, the list goes on. I dont have all the sources for wages but I suspect in transfer fees alone we have spent more in the last 2 years......and look at the difference in what happens on the pitch.

Gorkss 250k, Ramage free, Clarke free, Mackie 550k, compare all these to what we spent on Leadbitter, Norris, Priskin, Martin, Scotland, Edwards, there can not be too much in it!

You forget , or do not know , that free transfers are only free in that no fee is payable to the club losing the player ! Th e player involved will be getting a signing on fee , as will any agents involved , and that can cost more than some transfer fee transactions ! Also some of the paid for transfers can involve signing on fees to the players moving ! So some of the free ( ? ) signings could be costing a lot more than you think !

meekreech - a sensible post from someone who clearly understands football. Some of these numpty's have no clue - QPR have spent a small fortune, because as you point out free transfers cost lots of money; signing on fees, wages etc. The wage bill at QPR will be very very high. Some people fail to take this into account.

Some people may well fail to take wages into account Jas0999 but if you read through all my post then you would see that I was not one of them as I admitted that I did not no all the wage details. Although saying that I would happily bet our wage bill is close to QPR'S if not higher.

Jas0999 - how can you have the cheek to call people numpties when there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that your arguement (qpr spending more than us) is even true. As mentioned, we don't know agents fees and wages etc, but these player lists that posters have provided seem to point to there bring very little in it ( and I'd probably guess that we've spent more - but at much lower amount of improvement to our squad than qpr). But of course, that would help highlight that your precious "Roy" is not actually very good. Which, of course, he isn't.
