West Brom Recall Zuiverloon
West Brom Recall Zuiverloon
Wednesday, 29th Dec 2010 15:55

West Brom have recalled defender Gianni Zuiverloon early from his loan spell at Town as cover for injuries and suspensions at the Hawthorns. The Dutchman was due to remain at Portman Road until January 4th.

The former Heerenveen man’s early exit means that Town find them short of a recognised right-back with Jaime Peters, Tom Eastman or Troy Brown likely to fill in until the transfer window opens and manager Roy Keane is able to add to his squad.

West Brom's Chilean right-back Gonzalo Jara is suspended after reaching five bookings, while centre-half Gabriel Tamás faces a three-game ban for his red card in the 3-1 loss to Blackburn. Fellow central defender Jonas Olsson has an achilles injury.

Former Holland U21 international Zuiverloon, 23, made four appearances during his time with the Blues.

Perhaps town and Roy will learn the lesson that loads of loanees is not the way to go (it cost Norwich relegation)

jamie is the best of the so called rbs we have and he always gives a 100% being small doesnt seem to affect his game, he still out jumps 6ft players,if u watch him ull c how many times he beats 6ft players in the air ,as he times his jumps to perfection, give him a run out and he will prove a lot of doubters wrong.

We MUST BUY a decent and "proper" RB . RK has never replaced David Wright , and oh boy , dosent it show !

Retroblue - d wright was too old (oh no, keane wants more experience).

Or perhaps he didn't get forward enough (oh no, keane dissent like fb's to get past the half way line).

I meant his wages were too high (oh no, keane keeps getting prem cast offs who would be on big wages).

Ok, selling d wright made no sense. But what else should we expect from mr clueless.

He was dreadful. no real loss and he didn't want to stay anyway. I agree with most on here - get someone in permanently. It surely can't be that difficult

Mixed feelings about this one. I thought after a poor start (Norwich and particularly Swansea), he started to look a decent player and I think would inevitably have improved after game time. That said, it frees up a loan option (striker!?) and gives Jaime a further opportunity - for me, he should be playing anyway. Good luck GZ; we may see you back in the future.

Please Mr Keane, dont play Eastman at rightback against the Gooners....it could be a humiliation that the boy will never recover from

Good....! Glad this dick head's left.... He was never bothered about us from day 1 - so stop allowing Keane any type of excuses - and say goodbye to this scum bag...

It took him some time to get the rust out but he improved with each game. I thought that he looked good against Leiceter and wish him well.

Back to square one at RB. Zuiverloon was only here until 04 Jan anyway and hadn't shown in the games that he played that he was better than Peters, Eastman, Brown et al. He thinks he's a Premiership player. Well good luck to him! He is the embodiment of what is wrong with the loan system. He was brought in under regulations governing what are supposed to be 'emergency' loans. The only recognised RB on the books was himself loaned out to Histon. While we all welcomed the acquisition of a 'proper' RB, albeit temporarily, the fact remained that we had chosen to go into the campaign without a specialist RB. To attempt to remedy this folly using an 'emergency' loan is cynical in the extreme. As was GZ's declaration that he was only interested in putting himself in the shop window to secure employment with a Premiership Club.

These things always end in tears. Unfortunately despite his efforts in the games he has played GZ will not be remembered with any affection for very long.

What now? Do we try to recruit in January or go with the squad we've got? IMO we should discard the loanees, most of them at least (possibly Colback excepted) and trust the players that have actually committed their futures to the Club. There is no point bringing in additional personnel in the current environment even if the management actually could.

He was a great player to have, However when you look at our team our defence is a bunch of schoolboys that make errors time and time again when Delayney and McAuley is injured, A huge midfield with not much experience and 3 strikers that don't have 20 goals a season. If Marcus Evans is true to his word and will bring us the premiership with his millions why does Roy Keane ensist of getting loan players. There is good players available out there to get you promoted with good money.
Mears (Gets teams promoted)
Whittingham (midfield goal machine)
Ambrose(Should have got him back years ago)
Commons( great winger and goal provider)
Chris Morgan (workhorse like de vos that brings experience)
Tudgay( always scores when you need him)
Lallana (good prospect in midfield that scores goals)
Rickie Lambert (with the service will bag you goals)

Keano have a look at these and bring them in. Loan players get you relegated???

Trust me as years ago my mates said i was mad when i said Marcus stewart would get us promoted???

thats why Roy has had a bad season and his 2 year plan has not worked! if it was not for West Brom recalling Gianni Zuiverloon then we would be in top spot 20 points clear!
Marcus i am as good as Numpty er Clegg can i have a job?

Tearle1974, that is a very nice list of targets-chances of getting any of them are slim to none though.

I think Lallana is about the only likely target on that list, and would be a great addition (think everyone has been saying this for years, surprises me that no one has come in for him already-must be some reason!) Maybe Morgan to but he is a thug in my eyes and would hate to see him in a Town shirt, bit like Thatcher really and our current manager!

I would love to see us move for Adam Le Fondre-got to be worth a punt surely!

Also if we could sign Colback permanantly, maybe Fallon for a very small minimal fee, and a Right back (permanantly).

Personally I would like to see us sign a decent left back to-Joe Mattock anyone? Hardly getting a game at West Brom and behind Shorey in the pecking order. Send O'Dea back, Kennedy is to old or just injured, and I would love to see O'Connor when fit again given a run at left midfield so that in my eyes leaves us short at left back.

Wishful thinking I know!!

i dont know why people are trying to talk football common sense at this club at the moment?? listing transfer targets that would make common sense?? we are being ripped apart from the inside out by a tinkering irish clueless idiot and a pi.s artist executive who dont care whilst he getting paid serious bucks. If you really want to know who we gonna sign have a look at the clubs at the bottom of the football league or look at the Irish league at all the class players there. We need a goal scorer and he brings in Fallon from Plymouth? we need to create attacking football to score goals and he sends townsend back to Spurs? i am seriously trying to work out the logic?? if there is any?

Not a big loss, he was due to go back to West Brom on the 4th anyway.

Not surprised. This is the problem with loan players. Give Peters a run in the team and BUY a couple of players who want to be at Town. Got tickets for the 1st leg of semi-final COYB!!!

I'd be very happy to see Jamie Peters given a good run in the side. the guy plays his heart out and he may be small, but makes up for it with effort - and he can jump, unlike some taller defenders.
