West Brom Recall Zuiverloon
West Brom Recall Zuiverloon
Wednesday, 29th Dec 2010 15:55

West Brom have recalled defender Gianni Zuiverloon early from his loan spell at Town as cover for injuries and suspensions at the Hawthorns. The Dutchman was due to remain at Portman Road until January 4th.

The former Heerenveen man’s early exit means that Town find them short of a recognised right-back with Jaime Peters, Tom Eastman or Troy Brown likely to fill in until the transfer window opens and manager Roy Keane is able to add to his squad.

West Brom's Chilean right-back Gonzalo Jara is suspended after reaching five bookings, while centre-half Gabriel Tamás faces a three-game ban for his red card in the 3-1 loss to Blackburn. Fellow central defender Jonas Olsson has an achilles injury.

Former Holland U21 international Zuiverloon, 23, made four appearances during his time with the Blues.

No great loss, was picking up a bit of form but had made it clear that he did not want to stay with Town and has only gone back slightly earlier than his loan expiry. Would like to see Peters given this role until a proper right back is appointed when Peters can move into midfield. I feel that he has been hard done by for not being regularly in the team.
Priskin was starting to show good form and now seems to have been dropped right back out of the first 18?
We have known about this lack of a proper RB since Keane booted out D Wright who wasn't brilliant but to not have a dedicated RB at the club is crazy, still as Keane says 'us fans know nothing'!

Blue041273 - that is an excellent post.

Most of us were annoyed in the summer when Keane gave away David Wright on a free transfer soon after letting Liam Rosenior go too, and the only argument for it was that Keane must have someone better lined up. No one came and Keane said he was happy with the players he had in this position. Jamie Peters then played there and did okay, although most of us thought he is better further forward. Peters was then dropped and replaced with a 17-year-old centre back who did his best, but got turned inside out due to being out of position. Keane still said he was not looking for a right-back, as though to say he was right and the fans were wrong. At the last minute an emergency loan player was signed for one month, a player who had no intention of staying at Ipswich and just wanted to get his fitness back and find another club. We now head into a crucial period of the season with no right-back at the club. It is absolutely crazy.

Good thing Fab filled him in on Town's history.

Maybe Keane just wanted to expand the Town A-Z. He'll sign Aardvaark or Zwinkendorf next.

a RB would be an ideal 1st signing for RK, followed by a decent striker.
