Strike Pair and Daggers Winger Linked
Strike Pair and Daggers Winger Linked
Sunday, 1st May 2011 16:46

Town have again been linked with summer moves for Doncaster Rovers striker Billy Sharp and Dundee United frontman David Goodwillie. The Blues are also said to be chasing 22-year-old Dagenham and Redbridge winger Danny Green.

Sharp, 25, has long been linked with the Blues with manager Paul Jewell having watched the former Sheffield United man in action against his old club Derby in March. Further reports claim that Rovers value Sharp at £2.5 million.

Scottish 22-year-old Goodwillie, who according to today’s reports will be the subject of a £750,000 Town offer, was first mentioned in connection with the Blues early last month with Jewell having confirmed that Dundee United had been watched, winger Craig Conway previously having been said to be a target.

Daggers right winger Green has also been linked with Brighton and has been watched by a number of Championship sides recently.

The former Northampton and Nottingham Forest youth player dropped into non-league with Bishop’s Stortford before signing for the Daggers in May 2009. Since then the 6ft-tall Harlow-born midfielder has scored 27 goals in 93 starts and three sub appearances.

Green, who netted his 13th goal of the season in yesterday’s 3-0 League One victory over Carlisle before being sent off for a second bookable offence, is contracted to the Essex side until 2013.

Earlier in the week, the Blues were again mentioned in connection with Green's Daggers team-mate Romain Vincelot.

> Mark - actually in an interview published in the EADT on 26 April - PJ said 'We have not got enough men at the moment'.

Jewell may have said that, but I don't think for a minute it precludes any particular signings. I am sure he will cast the net far and wide looking for all possible players who could improve the squad.

Jordan Rhodes, yawwwn! God how long did it take for some of you to get over your first girlfriends?

Think we need to start a "linked with" bingo this pre season. Must nearly be into double figures already.

Sharpe would be a great addition, wouldn't be disappointed to see a whole new starting eleven next season.

Haarlem_Blue - im guessing your directing that at me? I'm just saying he seems a good player on there though. I'm not judging him at all as i have watched him play. Maybe you should move back to England to watch the mighty blues every game

I still can't see why these players would join us when just think what clubs are gonna be in for sharp in the summer, as much as I'd like these players and it's even a good thing being linked with these players I don't see why they would join us when they will have better offers

He was never my 1st preference but I trust Jewells choice of player more than I ever did Keanes so bring on the new season. I've got a good feeling about it but it's nearly 4 in the morning & I've been drinking more than I should! COYB!!!

mikewright2, why would I want to move back to England to see the blues? I make 10+ games a year coming over from Holland which costs £150 for the ferry alone before you start talking about tickets, food, drink etc. Only reason to move back would be to save some money! At least the overnight ferry x 2 is more likely to get me there than having to catch the train! Used to travel from Reading for every game and that really was a pain in the ass...

I don't think 750,000 would pay Goodwillies court fees ! Don't think we need his kind of publicity.
Billy Sharp for me every time.

it was said today that in the daily mirror billy sharp has been given a 2.5m price tag. A lot of money but i personally think he is worth it

Just hope that the link with Billy Sharp doesn't turn into the fiasco that being linked with Michael Chopra turned into last season!
