Jewell and Clegg to Meet Fans
Jewell and Clegg to Meet Fans
Wednesday, 26th Oct 2011 09:08

Town fans will get the chance to meet manager Paul Jewell and chief executive Simon Clegg at a Supporters Club event on Wednesday 2nd November (7.30pm). The duo will talk about the season so far and then take questions at Portman Road’s Legends Bar.

The evening will also include the business of the Supporters Club AGM - including speeches and election of officers — although this is likely to take only around 20 minutes.

The event is free but open only to Supporters Club members (those with current season tickets, Silver Club cards and Junior Blues) and those attending are asked to bring proof of their membership. For more information contact Tammy Denny at tammydenny@hotmail.com or by phone on 07968 876504.

Jewell was at Colchester’s home game against Bournemouth last night, presumably catching up on Jaime Peters’s progress during his spell with the Cherries.

The game ended 1-1 with former Town academy striker Charlie Sheringham making his league debut as a late sub for Bournemouth. Sheringham, the son of ex-England frontman Teddy, was a member of the Blues squad which won the FA Youth Cup in 2005.

Meanwhile, Jewell, who is also a guest on this weekend's Goals on Sunday on Sky, says it's important for his fringe players to be ready to come into the side when their chance comes: “It’s a squad game and we’ve got a lot of players here.

"I’ve never been one for changing the team too much, but having said that all my players have a part to play — whether that’s while they’re playing or while they’re not playing.

“A successful football club has a focused group of players, not just in the first XI on a Saturday, but throughout the squad on a Monday to Friday too.”

Elsewhere, Cardiff beat Burnley 1-0 in the Carling Cup last night which means Town’s match against the Clarets at Turf Moor on Tuesday 29th November will definitely go ahead.

The Carling Cup quarter-finals are scheduled for the same week which had put the Blues’ visit to Lancashire in doubt.

Question to Blueoff. Why don't you go along and ask your stupid questions?

Oh Gosh not a Jordan Rhodes question for Pete's sake.

The understanding was that we could afford to develop one youngster and chose Wickham. The further understanding was that Rhodes would not re-sign a contract as his Dad had left the club under a cloud. Whether true or not it adds to the idea that we made a correct choice. One players has gone north to the Prem and given us £8 million and add ons; the other went North to Division 1 and gave us £800K and a sell on clause.

Now what the blazes question would we be asking?

A stupid Q for a stupid recipient . Like RK, Oly(mpics) Clegg is at the club for ME's wider business interests and I suppose if that benefits ITFC then fine, but it would be better to have a CEO with a good sport business head on his shoulders rather than having an Olympics gravy train troughing character

blueoff/ and the others from the doom brigade - its a hell of a good question(?) This is your chance!! Why dont you toddle off there with the rest of the those with the same repetitive questions over the last months and ask him face to face. Its desperate times at Portman Road isn't it? We are 1/3 of the way through the season and few points off the play offs. By the way, Dont forget to take your season ticket so you can get in.

Question to PJ: Why have you signed players who lack pace and then moan about it afterwards?

'We could afford to develop one youngster' Not at all sure what that means. As it is we could have sold Connor & kept Jordan. The fact was that we sold Rhodes & used the money towards the purchase of Priskin. I know that hindsight is easy but some of us had the foresight to oppose the deals at the time. I can't see any point in trying to justify a very bad move by Keane & Clegg by coming up with obscure reasons.

The Rhodes sell was a ridiculous decision by Keane to then panic buy Priskin shows Keanes judgement of players and management style ,throw money at it but it is done so lets stop comin up with dreadful excuses that the club couldnt afford to have 2 youngsters on apprentices or little wages !!
I would like to say to PJ well done so far as for the last two seasons at this stage of the season we have been 24th 2009-10, & 17th 2010-11 so we have improved immensly with our old has beens and loan players .
