Jewell Praise for Town Fans' Support of Chopra Saturday, 5th Nov 2011 09:40 Blues manager Paul Jewell has praised Town fans for the support they have given to striker Michael Chopra since news of his battle against his gambling addition broke just over a week ago. The 27-year-old frontman is set to make his first appearance at Portman Road since then when the Blues take on Doncaster Rovers this afternoon. Jewell says the former Cardiff man continues to make progress, although admits that his recovery will be a long road: “He seems fine, it’s an ongoing situation with Chops. His problems have been well documented over the couple of weeks. “It’s not going to go away overnight. As I see it the best thing he can do is concentrate on his football and play well, everything else takes care of itself. “I don’t think you’ve ever really finished [the recovery], it’s an ongoing thing. It’s not like going into hospital, having an operation and you’re cured.” The Blues boss says the club will continue to give him any assistance he requires and praised fans for getting behind the Newcastle-born striker: “As I said last week, we just want to help and support him if he wants help. “I have to say that the Ipswich Town fans have been terrific in their support. Hopefully he can reward them with a good performance and some goals.”
