Duo's Loans End
Duo's Loans End

Tamás Priskin and Shane O’Connor’s one-month loans at Derby and Port Vale are up today with neither set to extend their spells.

Priskin netted one goal in four starts and one sub appearance for the Rams, who recruited the Hungarian, whose Town contract is up this summer, largely as cover for injuries.

O’Connor was unable to break into the League Two side’s first team during his month at Vale Park. The Irish U21 international was at Portman Road yesterday watching the Blues lose to Nottingham Forest.

While with the Valiants, O’Connor admitted that his career with the Blues is almost up with his contract expiring in June: “My time at Ipswich is coming to an end and I've got a chance to show people what I can do because I've fallen out of the spotlight.”

Ronan Murray is now the only Town player out on loan with his spell at Swindon set to end on January 14th.

The Irish U21 international frontman made his second start for the Robins yesterday as they beat AFC Wimbledon 2-0 at home. The 20-year-old has also made four sub appearances and has scored two goals.

Meanwhile, Doncaster boss Dean Saunders has confirmed that his club has turned down an offer for striker Billy Sharp from an unnamed side and says that he expects the 25-year-old to move on during the transfer window: “If I was being honest, I don’t think he’ll be here at the end of January.

“I hope he stays for obvious reasons — he’s scored ten goals in 16 games for me.

"We’ve had a bid that’s not been accepted. Anybody who scores goals is going to attract attention, I know I look at players in the leagues below.”

Leicester and West Ham have both been reported to have been the club making the offer, while the Blues, Southampton, Fulham, Hull City and Wigan Athletic are amongst a host of sides linked.

Town boss Paul Jewell ruled his club out of the running if Sharp's release clause is £3 million as claimed by Rovers chairman John Ryan, but with subsequent reports suggesting it's £1.85 million, Town might still make an approach, although given the competition they would appear to be outsiders, particularly with Sharp keen to play in the Premier League.

Priskin scored once when on loan at Derby, once when on loan at QPR and once when on loan at Swansea. They don't call him Tamas Juan Goal Priskin for nothing

O'connor looked great the couple of times I watched him. What a shame. Yips or something.

So O'Connor can't get into a mid-table L2 side who were struggling badly with injuries?! And some people on here think he's the answer to our problems.

I know with our side at the moment it's a novelty if someone actually runs around a lot, but that doesn't make them a good footballer (Peters another prime example!)

It'll soon be time for O'Connor to admit that his career in league football is almost up if he can't get into the Port Vale team!

At £1.7M + big wages, Priskin must be in the top five of Ipswich's worst ever signings. In financial terms, I can only think of Sereni and George being worse. Civelli, Le Pen and Lisbie are up there too, but they cost less. I suppose Leadbitter could be added due to his whopping £2.7M fee that we will get no return from when he leaves for free soon.

Priskin flatters to deceive - scoring on his Derby debut, but has failed to impress, at Ipswich or on loan to QPR, Swansea or Derby. Goodbye Tamas it's a shame, because there is that feeling that there's a good player in there somewhere. I expect you'll find your level at a 2nd division continental club when your contract is up. never mind, you managed to earn enough at ITFC to keep you in comfort for the rest of your life!

Condemn them both as much as you like but I dare say they don't want to come back to play for the muppet we have in charge either - I agree it's a pity PJs time isnt also at an end waste of space

Both very poor signings and as proved again not good enough for town ,but still some will want them starting and its Jewells fault that they are crap .Couldnt get in a league two side but should be playing for us along with Hyam and Peters !!

send o'conor out again but i would hope either priskin will start scoring (I am an optimist) or try and recover as much money for him as we can but there will probably be no interest

wish o'connor was given a fair chance under Jewell.
As for priskin, either give him a run in the team or SELL him before he leaves on a free transfer.....

Did I dream that Priskin went to Derby with a view to a permanent move? If he did, I guess he didn't impress there either. Feels like another Counago to me. Could be good but somehow never is....

For me the mini revival under the captaincy of Andrews and the slump again under the captaincy of Leadbitter tells a tale. The team needs a leader that sets the example on the pitch and motivates his team mates. But what do I know?

(I wonder if anyone at ITFC ever reads these comments?)

Before people slate Priskin - is he really any worse than Ellington?! No. Probably not much better, but has at least scored for us!

As for O'Connor he has been unlucky - yet another who fell out with PJ. Will try harder than Bullard and Bowyer - two more poor PJ signings.

Your not welcome here Priskin. Go abroad somewhere

O'Connor only went as cover so maybe we shouldn't be surprised but his loss of form is worrying as presumably is Hyams. Problem is on Mondays showing only Creswell, Edwards and Drury have what it takes and one of them had a mate! Serious concerns particularly up the spine of the team!
