Dallas View Wright as One for the Future
Dallas View Wright as One for the Future

Dallas FC manager Schellas Hyndman says Blues keeper Richard Wright's trial with his club is with a view to a possible future move rather than the 34-year-old joining the MLS side for the season ahead. TWTD reported that Wright had travelled to the US on Saturday with his return expected in the next day or so.

Hyndman says his club is looking to improve on their ongoing goalkeeping situation, although with the highly rated Kevin Hartman very much the first choice: “We felt like this year we wanted to really raise our goalkeeping situation.

“Last year we carried four goalkeepers, but we weren’t sure who that fourth goalkeeper would be [for the season ahead].

“Instead of signing someone, we have the opportunity to look at a few keepers and see if there’s someone we might want to sign in the summer window or maybe someone we might want to have on our radar for next year.”

Hyndman says Wright is unlikely to join in the short term, despite impressing in training with the Texas club: “He’s done well for us. But if we do anything, we might do a pre-contract.”

He says Wright wouldn’t be considered as a back-up keeper for the season ahead but more a possible first choice in the future with other keepers also likely to have trials in the weeks to come: “He’s a goalkeeper that would want to come in and be competing for a number one spot. This will give us a chance to see if he’s in that category.”

Meanwhile, it’s reported that Josh Carson was dropped at Leeds on Saturday rather than left out of the 16 due to the hamstring injury he had suffered against Blackpool, as had been understood.

Carson is currently weighing up whether to sign his new two-year contract, which includes an option for a third season, with manager Paul Jewell expecting it to be sorted soon when speaking to the press last week. It’s claimed his omission last week may lead him to delaying making his decision.

Why oh why do we keep giving this bloke column inches. He's only in it for the money and this has been the case for years!! Get rid and get a hungry keeper next season or promote from within! Good for Town once, spoilt by money!!

I hope that RW is in goal against West Ham next Tuesday because ALB just lets nerves get the better of him in big matches remember Norwich at home last season for example.

If Carson doesnt sign then it will tell you how bad things really are inside portman rd. The fact that caelon Lavery would rather play anywhere other than here speaks volumes for how the younger players feel. imo they dont feel wanted, and cant see a future here.

Buryblue - I would agree that quite a lot of keepers are in their prime at 34, but it's also worth remembering that Richard Wright has only played 140 first team games in the last 11 years. Some keepers will manage that in 3.5/4.

Jewell sees Wrighty as one for the future, hes only 34 after all....loan him out to the MLS to get some game time next year and he may make it in this country....utter f***wit

Why are we even bothering to report on this bench warmer , who has essentially just been with the Club to keep his fitness up?

What a complete and utter shambles our once proud club has become!
Very depressing indeed.

So Carson pondering his options after Saturday. Fair play to the lad, if he's not injured, he should be in our eleven, let alone being left out of the squad. Jewell has questions to answer if he was dropped

Jewell probably thought he was dropping Willie Carson...but there again even he's a bit young for our squad..

To tell the truth, I really don't care. I'm more concerned about getting some proven quality into the club. I'm assuming the fact that we have heard nothing today from the club is because clegg, jewell and Evans are soooo busy sorting out the incoming 5 transfers that we need to stay up! Hahahahahahahahaha. Oh god.

5, is that all?

Actually to be fair it is our defence that has really let us down in the last couple of game (or it could be said all season).

If the Josh rumours are true I will have completely lost faith in the manager, to be fair remember turning up at the doncaster game and swearing at the team sheet and saying we will get killed down the wings. What happened? Got killed down the wings. If I can see something like that, why can't a paid professional manager, so you could say I lost it then.

I am utterly disillusioned with the whole state of our club. But you never know it could turn around.

Anyone got the number of a decent PE teacher in the area, at least he may get us mid-table?

McCarthy isn't even second choice at Reading and we put him in ahead of Richard Wright who has vast experience compared. Why was Jewell so pleased to sign Wright very recently and is now happy to allow him time off to trial for another club ?
I want Jewell to prove all us doubters wrong but will he really ?? Can't see it myself !
