No Loans Imminent
No Loans Imminent

Blues boss Paul Jewell said no one was set to join the club at the start of the ‘emergency loan window’ on Wednesday after Saturday's game at Coventry. The Town manager will be looking to add to his central defenders — and perhaps other areas of the squad — with TWTD understanding that former Blue Titus Bramble, currently at Sunderland, is on his list of potential loanees.

Clearly still feeling the cold having watched his side’s dramatic 3-2 victory at the Ricoh Arena, Jewell said there was no news on the signing front and joked that open windows were far from his thoughts: “No, we won’t be opening any windows in this weather!”

The Blues have been linked with Bramble for a couple of weeks but with Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill dismissing reports of a Town approach for the 30-year-old before the January transfer window closed.

However, we understand that there is indeed some interest on the part of the Blues, although no move would appear likely in the short-term, even if O’Neill sanctions one, with Bramble continuing to struggle with an Achilles injury.

That may mean Jewell looks elsewhere to strengthen his backline with the likes of Middlesbrough’s Stephen McManus also linked, while ex-loanee Danny Collins is still at Stoke, a move to Southampton not having gone through before the window closed.

Meanwhile, one of Sunday’s tabloids claims Town and Hull made deadline day moves for Derby’s Paul Green, leading to the Republic of Ireland international being pulled out of the Rams’ midweek fixture at Barnsley.

Earlier in the transfer window, Blues boss Paul Jewell, who signed Green during his spell as manager at Pride Park, confirmed that he had spoken to the former Doncaster man’s agent.

Elsewhere, former Town manager Roy Keane is reportedly set to be the next boss at Millwall.

i'd be surprised if PJ is still here come end of the season. If (as i hope he will) pull us away from the relegation zone, and steady the ship, i feel Evans and Clegg mayl dispense with his services come seasons end. personally i still don't see us moving forward under Paul Jewell, although very pleased with our performance the last 2 games i'm not stupid enough to put on rose tinted specs!

if i am right i do have concerns as to who Evans and Clegg would appoint! they've some bad form in this area!

Really? Titus the answer to calamitous defending?! Also doesn't he have a trial coming up for 3 'offences', so may even be more distracted than normal!

Selling Titus Bramble for the amount we did was the best piece of transfer business ever conducted by this club. I can't believe for one second that he's the answer to our defensive issues. Eeee-awwww!

Titus Bramble is very underestimated, hes quick, good in the air and a good passer.
He just has too many of these sick moments where he looks silly.
Hes better than Sonks

Please no, not Titus Bramble. An awful football player. Let alone all the other reasons why he got suspended by Sunderland. We don't want him. Move on now.

Titus doesn't represent value for money and I'm guessing we could have at least 4 Cresswell's for the same outlay. I'm assuming the reason why we didn't go back in for either Collins or Andrews was because Clegg has written off the season and is holding back budget for next year which would mean we are more likely to be fishing from the Championship reserve pond if that is the strategy.

anyone that thinks Titus is an awful footballer clearly has no idea about football. yes he makes a few high profile errors, but at Championship standard would be very good. So much better than Sonko who is now making almost one major error a game now.

How can people say how awful Bramble is, has been a Premiership regular for best part of 10 years - if he was that poor he'd have been found out.

If his contract is up in the summer, then he could be a potentially loan to permanent transfer that would solidify our back line

Chislehurstblue - or maybe have seen him 20 or 30 times since he left Ipswich and reached a conclusion based on evidence?

While he may "do a job" in normal circumstances he is distracted by a court case and is why Sunderland suspended him. We don't need the distraction.

Loan signings, just sticking plasters over the surgery needed at ITFC. Unfortunately we don't have any choice as desperate times means desperate measures, unfortunately PJ track record in loan signings is not good!

Titus has to much baggage at the moment, would rather us sign a younger centre half with view to permanant move in the summer.
I know we need new defenders but since most of loans have gone team spirit is better and results are better.
Keane will not move to Millwall his Dogs would never move to London.

There's nothing wrong with the calibre of PJ's loan signings, Stockdale, Andrews & Collins were all good players & performed well for the club, the Problem is that they were loan players & never likely to stay beyond that, even less in the case of Stockdale.

The Dark Lord has been out of football for over a year now,,!!
He must be getting desperate to be associated with Millwall,, and to leave his cushy TV Pundit job as well ?????.
As CornardBlue has pointed out his dogs will find London very different from Aldeburgh and woodbridge for there walks ?????????????

By the way it looks like Stockdale is available again for loan,, I do not know how that would work out again ?????????

im begining to think that we are like a refuge for players that have problems off the pitch.titus has been given more chances than most, but his mind is the problem, on his day he can be great but at times his head is elsewhere.could do a job for us but so could many others .

If keano is going to millwall, it'll fill up one relegation spot at least, and that's something we should be happy with!

Hopefully Keane will join Millwall ,that will relegate them leaving just two others Coventry and Forest unless Pompey are docked points

hopefully although not actually immenent at the moment, we will have a decent CB in by friday! As for Stockdale, he has done really well for Fulham, never deserved being dropped and possibly would consider now a longer term move?

Shame we can't lure Gary Monk of Swansea here..not getting much of a look in ahead of Ashley Williams & Steven Caulker..and a leader at the back - the captain figure we could do with...maybe in the summer?

Call me crazy but I don't want to see anymore loan players in our starting line up, get one in jus in case sonks or smith get injured. At least they are fighting for our club rather than jus playing for us and picking up their money from their parent club. Plus if we play sonks and smith week in week out they can form a better understanding and turn into a good pair for next season.... Hopefully

Liam Trotter must be pleased with the news that Keane is going to Millwall! Anyone remember the whole "Trotter isn't a real man" stories?
