Howells Staying at Luton
Howells Staying at Luton
Wednesday, 27th Jun 2012 13:41

Luton midfielder Jake Howells has signed a new three-year deal with the Hatters. The out-of-contract 21-year-old was understood to have been offered terms by the Blues but instead has opted to remain with with the Blue Square Bet Premier side.

Wales U21 international Howells, who plays at left midfield and left-back, was a player Town had been keeping an eye on since the 2010/11 season, although Howells himself reportedly says he knew nothing of the Blues' interest despite widespread reports linking Town with a move for him in January.

Howells' new deal at Kenilworth Road is understood to make him one of the club's highest-paid players.

Just another non item that gives the chance for the downers to have a go at the club. It could just be a smoke screen to hide more important deals in the pipeline?

h32 - Eliott Hewitt has joined the club; a young ambitious player wouldn't you agree? Cherish Kourouma is about to join. Also young and ambitious.

This Howells chap is so ambitious he has elected to stay in non league football.

You are of course entitled your opinion and you clearly believe that Jewell should not be here, but this seems like a dig just for the sake of it.

harlingblue - as if - some of you look for the most pathetic excuses to cover over the cracks in this Club that are fast becoming crevises.

The longer PJ stays here and gets us nowhere the lower our stock falls and the less likely we are to attract anybody of note, on the Steven Davis thing, I cannot quite see peoples optimism if we do sign him.

Clearly my post should have said CHEIKH Kourouma; flipping autocorrect!!

Papa - agree with every word of your post - there is truth behind most of what is on here - the only people who 'knock' the thread content are the proverbial ostrich's who choose not to recognise anything negative. In other words reality checks for them, which they don't like.

To be honest I have had enough of all these players we are being linked with. Look's like another week gone without no progress in the transfer market my question is why? We have signed a Hewitt who probably can't play until October, another player in Kourama are we building a squad good enough to challenge for a top 10 finish? Very doubtful in my opinion.

menacinho - read the post correctly - the wording is:- 'the longer this situation goes on......'

Hewitt signed a few weeks back - and didn't exactly have a mammouth decision to make being injured at the time, still is, and may well still be come the start of the season. Not all Clubs will sign injured players for sure - therefore his options would have been somewhat reduced anyway.

Well said menacinho, good post and true! Also why would Bryan Klugg come back if everything is as bad as the negative posts say???? there hasnt been much real news coming out of portman road, but the signings are positive.

Great site Phil, keep up the hard work...coyb

...... ITFC - best Club in the world to Manage and be the CEO of - so very little required of either post, for an element of support to be totally satisfied.

Players not keen on joining - but Managers NEVER a problem.
No Prizes - for guessing why.

PhilTWTD - Just KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK - ignore the 'knockers' if we all took notice of them, none of us would be anywhere - as indeed, exactly where some of them are themselves.

h32 - the intent of your post was clear, despite the wording, you clearly don't think that us signing Hewitt and the forthcoming deal for Kourouma is indicative of ambition, whilst I disagree.

A highly sought after 18 year old missing the first 6 weeks of the season is hardly likely to put people off buying him if a club is building for the future.

I am not someone who backs Jewell in every respect; he made some big mistakes last season, but the transfer activity so far this close season has suggested that he has learnt from them.

Says it all really. I wonder what the 'support club whatever' brigade will say when we are playing Luton in the Blue Square Premier

Phil I for one would like to add that I really enjoy your site, living abroad it's good to get the news and the gossip on Town, you do a great job mate. Sadly some on here would moan at anything....but that's life.

not sure about the rest of you but for me sitting in the pub with mates before a game discussing football (transfers, rumours, links etc) is all part of the football experience. This site is basically another way for us to all do this without having to physically go to the pub every day!

Phil TWTD - I agree with those that enjoy reading the speculation. England are out of the Euros. No one cares about the tennis. What else is there to do but speculate?!

To all those saying this bloke has clearly no drive or ambition - well, I'm sure he does, and he feels it's best served with Luton. They probably have more momentum than Town.

Must say that is a tad disapointing but on a plus side,he looks like exactly like someone I work with who's got a really weird eye (it might even be glass, either that or its a mega mega lazy eye!!). Although will admit both of his eyes look ok in the above picture..........
