Clegg in Hotseat at Open Training Day
Clegg in Hotseat at Open Training Day
Wednesday, 8th Aug 2012 14:46

Blues chief executive Simon Clegg will be in the hotseat on Mark Murphy’s Radio Suffolk show on Friday morning (9am), which comes live from Town’s free-to-attend open training day (10am-3pm). Mark is after questions to ask the Blues’ chief.

If you want to put a question to Simon Clegg, send an email to Mark here.

The main feature of the training day is the chance to watch Paul Jewell and his coaches put the players through their paces in a full training session on the main Portman Road pitch.

More than 2,000 fans attended last year’s similar event. This year’s expanded full schedule can be found here.

I'd love to hear where the money from the Connor Wickham sale has gone. At least that would end speculation, even if it did all go on debts.

Not sure there's any mystery on that front, went towards reducing last year's loss: http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=19538

At the time Clegg said Jewell will be given the funds in order to build a promotion-challenging squad. “The money is going to be reinvested into the football club and we're very clear in terms of where we want to get to."
Despite accepting the money did go to reducing last years loss the above comment does make quite a few fans feel misled.

Thanks Phil.

It will come as no surprise that my old school reports stated 'needs to pay more attention'

I think Clegg deserves some credit for some ticket price iniatives: £12 adults against Bristol Rovers in our opening game next Tuesday (Capital One Cup) and tickets from £20 adults in the league opener against Blackburn. I urge fans to come to these games to show support for reduced prices, and encourage friends and a family to come along too!

Prices are far to dear even more so where i work and where thousands of others work in the country we have'nt had a pay rise in 7 yrs whilst going to football has become dearer and dearer.Im 50 and have being going since the late 1960's.Last season i gave my season ticket up went to a few home games and a few away i now pay 15 pound a month to watch Sudbury i get VIP treatment all the 1st team league games and res if i wish I can watch a game or even two a week of course the football is at a diff level but so are Ipswich and Man city next season if you pick your games its 38 quid for a cat A game top of the Bobby Robson stand absolute crazy and eight or nine quid for two beers, now i pay 5.50 fot 2 pints yes i could do without a beer but part of going out is the social side im sorry football and this club need to wake up its not going to be a working mans game anymore RANT OVER

cressi - the club would argue that if halving the price would double the attendance, they would do it. Part of the problem has been a disappointing response to ticket promotions, so that's why I say send a message to the club by getting as many people as possible to come to the cheaper games. We're never going to be as cheap as Sudbury, but I think the Ipswich v Bristol Rovers (£12 adults, £8 concessions, £1 under-16s) and Ipswich v Blackburn prices are fair (from £20 adults, £15 concessions, £5 under-16s).

Mark off course i understand what you are saying but it wont entice me the every day game at Ipswich is to expensive its now cheaper to get in at an away game and make it a day out i now watch a game have a meal dont feel upset and frustrated like it made me feel. in Germany people protested at being ripped off stopped going now bayen munich get 70000 and u can go for a tenner

Sadly, because this country thrives on greed, that'll never happen here.
When I lived in Germany in the 80s, a tenner would have been too much to watch Bundersliga games. Standard was shocking.

Casanovacrow - Maybe when he said "we're very clear in where we want to get to" fans thought that meant using the money to get to the Premiership, but it actually mean't being in the black financially. I agree, that statement is not clear, especially as he states until promotion the club will always be in debt, suggesting investment in quality players is important. It would seem that we have very little funds to strengthen, based on our transfer deals so far.

Emailed him yesterday saying everyone knows we are four quality signings from being able to compete over whole season. This was his response....

Thank you, your comments are noted but it would be helpful if you don't e mail about such general matters as it clogs up my system and means I have less time to concentrate on more important matters to which you refer. The Official Supporters Club with whom I regularly meet (including last Saturday) deal with such general matters such as the overall view of the fan base.

Best wishes.

How pompous to have the post nom's in his signature block.

I wouldn't mind if he'd done anything of significance to deserve them.
