No Betting at Portman Road
No Betting at Portman Road
Friday, 17th Aug 2012 21:52

There will be no betting services at Portman Road on Saturday with the club’s contract with bookmaker Bobby Swift not having been renewed.

Town say they are speaking to potential replacements for future matches: “The club have been in discussions with various betting organisations and are currently exploring all options but at present supporters looking to place a bet are advised to use other resources.”

One alternative option is to place your bet via TWTD’s odds comparison page where you can see which bookmaker is offering the best odds.

This is nothing but bad management. Jewell has had 4 months to sort this out, the season starts tomorrow and we're no further forward. What is he doing to our beloved club.

This is ridiculous! The club cannot be picky at this moment in time. Get it sorted Clegg!

Sense of humour chaps with more than a touch of sarcasm towards the fools that would actually post that in a serious nature. Come on, do you really believe that was a serious post ??!!!

Prices are the ground were terrible. Sensible punters these days would use an exchange like Betfair or Betdaq on their computer or mobile phone, or an odds comparison site to find the best odds at traditional bookmakers.

Seemed odd to ditch Ladbrokes in the first place. Or was it Will Hill? God knows.
My brain hurts.

ramseyn... very amusing i saw your angle, a very amusing dig at the posters who blame Jewell for everything and will use any story to post a jewell out comment. Actually though does it matter if we have betting facilities at portman road? .......coyb

Ladbrokes pulled out of grounds on a matchday in general, so wasn't a Town decision.

Trouble is that most punters at the ground aren't serious gamblers. It just all part of the matchday experience putting £1 on the firstgoalscorer for example. Bookies are not going to make a lot of money out of that, hence why Ladbrokes pulled out of stadium outlets and why Bobby Swift had to price his odds at ridiculously poor levels.

So it looks like it'll be another local independent bookie, which is nice to see but means another season of poor odds and a long trip to pick up winnings for anyone who can't do so after the game and lives outside of the immediate area!
