Posh Pair Continuing Town Talks
Wednesday, 29th Aug 2012 16:26

Posh pair George Boyd and Paul Taylor are at Town and are continuing to hold talks regarding their £2 million switch to the Blues. The duo were scheduled to undergo medicals at Portman Road this afternoon - with some sources reporting that they have now passed them - having travelled from Peterborough to negotiate their moves earlier today.

We understand that personal terms are yet to be confirmed but that the pair were set to have their medicals while their representatives held discussions with the club regarding the terms of their Town contracts.

The Blues had a joint offer accepted for the pair on Monday with Peterborough having transfer-listed them as they are out of contract next summer and had refused to sign new deals.

Town are also looking to complete the season-long loan signing of Daryl Murphy from Celtic with manager Paul Jewell also hopeful he can get other deals done - one presumably another centre-half - before Friday's 11pm deadline.

Speaking last night, Jewell said: “We’re trying to bring in not just those three, but we’re trying to bring one or two others in as well."

Can we get it done? I hope so...we need more goals in the side.

Here's hoping they sign and provide the creativity and goal threat that we are so clearly missing at present.

Wait for the 'Posh Pair head back home without agreeing terms' story to be reported next

Fingers crossed. If these two slip through our fingers then real questions will begin to be asked. Presumably work is in hand on a CB as well.

Well lets hope this can be done & dusted ASAP. Bring in Murph. I have a funny feeling Titus Bramble will return on loan. What do you all think? Reckon he would be an asset eventhough the odd mishap can happen.

This on the EADT website - "But hopes that a fourth new signing, in the shape of a central defender, could materialise before Friday's 11pm deadline is less likely, despite manager Paul Jewell not giving up on Murphy's Celtic team-mate Kelvin Wilson."

Would love Boyd and Taylor. Real quality and competition for places.

Please please please. I would love to see Boyd at the club, he's a star in the making. And I like what I've heard about Taylor. Good good.

I would be delighted for the two signings, However my friend who is a season ticket holder at the posh says they are lazy players. Well once our olympic rower gets em in to shape they wont have time for a cuppa tea every time we have a corner. Well done Jewell & Clegg if you can pull this off.

Great news... bit of early business before Friday's madness, still time to get a centre back sorted :)

All great news and better than I had hoped for in the transfer window, as long as they sign on the dotted line that is. How come the transfer fee is now reported to be £2 million though? It was £1.75 million the last time I checked (not that it matters too much).

I don't see the logic of Taylor. I thought we were after a big striker.

Another piece of news/gossip - Aston Villa agree a fee for Joe Bennett, the 'Boro left back, which would seem to signal the end of any pursuit of Cresswell (if indeed there still was one)

I've might have read too much into it but when Phil ran the story on Chambers saying what a good player Wilson was I thought that might be because Chambers knew a deal was close. Taylor too short and doesn't score enough goals so hopefully a striker with aerial ability is in Jewell's thinking.

Townontheup - I would ignore anything to do with the easd or the evening star. I complained on line that only ever posted negativity about ITFC and promptly got banned. I deem it a Norwich based canary loving apology for paper only good for starting fires with

It's promising that players of the statue of Boyd and Taylor are up for joining Town. Shows that they can't see themselves progressing at P'boro but instead see Ipswich as a club with a future. All very exciting. I just hope Martin doesn't become out of favour as a result, he's a class act in my opinion and one we need to keep hold of.

looks good but if we get these 2 we will have about 10-11 Midfielders 5-6 Strikers (All depends on where Murphy Plays & IF we get him) 2 Right backs & 2 left back & 3 goal goalkeepers (1 Is youth) 4 Center backs & We need 1-2 more Ainsley not good enough (Need to loan him out) Chambers is good & Smith is still learning & Delaney is ok but we need some better CBs We have N'Daw if you class him As a CB. So I like the players PJ has got but 1 more CB Please not loan is that too Much to ask. I think we will do ok this season once the team beds in & Know each other.

I would love to see Titus back at Ipswich, he still loves the club as he has always been a sponsor of one the academy teams since he left the club.
He might have made some mistakes in his private life but who are we to judge, he also makes a few mistakes on the pitch but compared to the errors our defence have made over the past few seasons he has got to improve it.

Thank you for getting your wallet out Evans ...just think there was far better options out there.
Wasn't keen on the Davies link but at least he would've offered something different ...and was cheaper.
We will see COYB

SUPERB signings. Particularly delighted with Boyd. Taylor is not the big man I expected but only heard good things.

Please can somebody reassure me about Tommy Smith...I can't remember the last convincing performance by him for a whole 90 minutes. Thought his mistake against Blackpool was just quite typical of him and it really worries me when we talk about avoiding silly mistakes. Reassurance? He seems a nice bloke and want to believe he can make it here...
