Gallagher Linked Again
Gallagher Linked Again
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 18:11

Town are reported to have recently shown renewed interest in Leicester striker or wideman Paul Gallagher.

The Blues were claimed to have made a £750,000 offer for the 28-year-old Scottish international in May but the bid was never confirmed.

Town boss Paul Jewell and chief scout Steve McCall are said to have shown interest since then but not within the last few weeks with other Championship clubs more in the hunt.

Gallagher’s value is now believed to be nearer the £500,000 mark with his only Foxes game so far this season the 4-2 Capital One Cup defeat to Burton Albion earlier in the week. He is contracted to Leicester until the summer of 2015.

I can't wait till 00:01 tomorrow when this bloody transfer window shuts, then we can concentrate on beating Hudersfield.

What ever happens and whoever is playing, please Mr Jewell play a 442 and lets get at them and try and put a bit o attacking wow factor back into our game.

Let's score 6, that will do nicely ;-)

for under 50k and the right wages yes, not sure what wages the guy will be on though considering until recently Leicester were throwing money all over the place

Another underwhelming possibility. At 6 foot tall I guess Jewell was trying to put everyone off the scent when he said we needed more height.

Mark added 18:24 - Aug 30
Buy him for £500K, put him on a 3 year contract, and after that he'll be 31 and worthless. How come other team's cast offs are marketed at such transfer fees when we have to pay ours to leave?!

2 links with Leicester players who have only been used in a home defeat against Burton this season. Hmm...

How not to run a football club by Marcus Evans,Simon Clegg & Paul Jewell.

They should replace Portman Road with a circus Big Top.

Huddersfield getting £8M for Rhodes is just about the cherry on top of the cake.

To say i'm extremely p155ed off with the way our club is being "run" is an understatement.

This transfer window is going to be a nerve jangler... I'd be a lot happier if we got some business done tonight rather than leaving it to the last minute.

Joe Whight is desperate to spill the beans about something on twitter... seems very excited, keep the faith COYB!!!

There is something very sad about our present situation ,I surpose part of me was hoping we would not still be trawling around looking for new additions to the squad at this late stage of the transfer window, I hope we have learnt from previous seasons desperate last ditch signings but I'm afraid this feels all too familiar.

There is obviously a lot going on behind the scenes we don't know about yet otherwise we wouldn't be letting Delaney go. Well i hope there is otherwise were f@@ked.

hope you are right Paulo , but with our recent transfer record , wouldn't it have been better to wait til we signed another defender ( or 2 ) before letting Delaney go , as we weren't getting a fee for him

Yeah yeah yeah and I'm a Norwich fan!!! Its a complete shambles!!! If we cant get a couple of mid table players to agree wages , how the hell do we expect to do the same with moneybags leicester?? It will be another loan, another waste of time.

SERIOUS questions need to be asked of Clegg/ME on why almost EVERY target breaks down, EVERY player we sign we let go for nothing!!

If football is supposed to be a business now, what kind of business is this??!!

Its rare I come on here and have a rant but I am so angry right now at how we have all been sold down the river with "were signing this player/that player" and it never happens or it turns into a bloody loan which is just a waste of time.

Never mind Whight.... we should all be getting excited as there will be so few players all the fans who turn up on Saturday will get a draw ticket and the 5 lucky winners will play!

If you dis-regard the actual players involved or linked and look at the transfer matter generally it is quite clear to any outsider that there is a problem with negotiations. Most of the deals involve a medical after personal terms have been agreed. There does not seem to be any validation of wage demands before offers are made and if it is obvious the players want too much up frony , do not go any further and move on to the next target, My own job involves this all day long and I never get to first base if the numbers do not add up. I save my dignity by never making contact in the first place. It also saves the players from getting an inflated ego or worth via multiples bids or interest. Loans and Freebies are more straightforward.

For what its worth Clegg/Evans can put this right and should with the Peterborough pair as I think they would make a big digfference and I was absolutely gutted when the offers fell through. With Delaney and Stevenson and possibly Ellington off the wage bill there must be some room for negotiation now even if we have had to pay them off by some sort of percentage.

Nevertheless the problem of not completing deals remains what it is- a problem. More validation required Simon -Give me a call I'll show you how its done. I close 99% of my deals.
