Higginbotham Joins On Loan
Friday, 21st Sep 2012 18:05

Stoke's Danny Higginbotham has joined the Blues on a one-month loan. TWTD reported that the 33-year-old was on Town boss Paul Jewell's wish-list of potential additions a fortnight ago.

Jewell said: “We have been trying to add to our options at the back for a while and Danny has been on our radar through the summer.

“He will bring a wealth of experience to the squad and we’re obviously delighted to have him with us.”

Jewell confirmed in January that he had tried to sign the one-time Derby, Southampton and Sunderland man on loan during that transfer window prior to him joining Nottingham Forest on a similar spell.

The 6ft 1in tall former Manchester United trainee will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's game at home to Charlton.

Stoke fan at work says he will be great for us and is still a very decent player. Shame it's not for 3 months

Not perfect but a stop gap band-aid. Good luck Danny...hope that it works well for both parties. Still think that Tommy will get there eventually but we desperately needed another CB. Wonder what the plan is after one month.

Anyone moaning about this needs a serious reality check.

Higginbotham is a good player at this level and will do well for us. Who do people expect us to sign: Kompany, Pique, Vidic????

Welcome to ITFC Danny, hope the fans give you a chance.

Now if we can just borrow another ten no make that 12 players we could dig ourselves out of this cesspool for a few weeks...... is it a first to be able to borrow a manager and a CEO while we are at it. Now theres a thought

YES I,M COMPLETELY UNDERWHELMED!

Looks like a panic loan, not the best out there, I'd rather him play with tommy smith than chambers!

Sindre94 - naivety is a blessing in your case.

Sometimes you have to take what is available. He's a hard man so at least it may stiffen some resolve on the pitch. Rather him at CH than Smith. Should be fun as I understand from a friend who is a Stoke fan that Higginbotham and Fuller were never the best of mates!

It sounds a good signing, but a one month loan is disappointing. Why oh why did we not invest properly in the defence over the summer?!

strange one this , i thought pantomime season started in January,In grand scale of things how the hell will this change our plight .A player on one months loan. The way things are going he will probably do his hamstring in first warm up .This is all turning out like a replay of Roy Keane era .

I expect it is only a month as that is all Jewell has left if it continues to go wrong. Like others on here I welcome him, good solid player. What sticks in the throat is that this kind of signing goes against all we have been told all summer. Spin, spin and more spin.
