Jewell Hopeful Higginbotham Will Stay
Wednesday, 17th Oct 2012 11:48

Town boss Paul Jewell says he is hopeful that the Blues can extend defender Danny Higginbotham’s loan beyond its initial first month. As things stand, the 33-year-old’s spell is due to come to an end after Tuesday’s home game against Derby County.

Jewell told the club site: “We are hopeful that we will be able to keep Danny. He’s come here to play football and he’s doing that. He’s enjoying it here and I’ve told him we want him to stay.

“We’re in conversation with Stoke and we will see how things work out, but we are certainly hopeful that he will be remaining with us, ideally for the maximum three months.”

Higginbotham has made three starts and one sub appearance since joining the Blues towards the end of September.

Meanwhile, one of this morning's tabloids claims the Blues are keeping tabs on former midfielder Owen Garvan, who is out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of the season.

The Eagles are reported to have opened talks with the 24-year-old regarding new terms. The Dubliner left Portman Road for Selhurst Park in the summer of 2010.

Shut up Jewell, no one cares what you want or say. You'll be gone long before HIgginbothom goes. Hopefully.

Is the 3 months a maximum due to the loan rules or ITFC policy?

Getting Owen back from Palace? hmm cos we are really short in the midfield, just not enough of them , it gets more laughable by the minute!

Sespite all the money we have spent on the team on fees, loan fees and wages since ME has been here. The team we had just prior to his takeover was better than what we have had since

I'd love him to stay longer as he's the best we've got, even though he's a loanee.

All these players on loan, where has our development policy gone?

How is it that we cannot get enough good players of a decent standard to sign on the dotted line?

I'm starting to lose all faith with the whole set up as it seems fundementally wrong, that people in senior positions at our club can consistantly perform so poorly and give us the same quotes over and over again, about how things will improve and that we're a big club in a false position.

Wake up and smell the coffee PJ and SC, we are where we are because of your poor skills and management...

Rant over..

It's an absolute must that we get Danny signed up for longer .

I would love Owen back here, one of the best ball players I've seen in a Town shirt in recent years, I think he's hugely underated and only went because he wasn't a Roy Keane player. As for Danny, it would be good to have a proper rock sign permanently for us, but would like to see him lose his Stoke trait of just hammering a ball up the pitch when under no real pressure.

FFS, Phil reports that the managers trying to get a decent player to play a bit longer and we still get the moaners on here complaining about speculation re: Garvan from a national newspaper. What a melodrama. Its like Jeremy Kyle on here some days.

Surprised he doesn't let him go back so he can get yet another loanee in and break Narrrwwichhh's record for loan's in a season!

Yes, 'upthewallpaul' 3 months is currently the maximum time limit for an emergency loan which he is.

Sign him up, asap. He is the type of presence we need and we need a settled back 5.

Perhaps they're keeping tabs on him in case he tries to get back in to Portman Road!

I'm actually beginning to find this really funny now. They should change the soundtrack that the players run out to from My Way to the Benny Hill tune. It's perfect for the state of our club now.....

If Jewell went to Tesco knowing he needed to buy bread, he would buy a banana because it a good deal
