Town, Burnley, Birmingham and Blackpool are reported to be keeping tabs on former Everton man Jose Baxter (left), who joined League One Oldham in the summer.

The 20-year-old former England U16 and U17 international signed a four-month contract at Boundary Park in September after leaving Goodison Park having been released after turning down a new contract on reduced terms.

The striker, a one-time Tranmere loanee, spent time on trial at Crystal Palace in the summer but failed to win a contract due to his lack of fitness.

Since joining the Latics he has made four starts and three sub appearances, scoring twice.

el_nino added 23:35 - Oct 18 Apparently he rejected a contract from Everton because he wanted to get out there and play regular 1st team football....this is the type of player we want, someone who is keen to prove themselves and earn their cash. And about the arrest thing, he wasn't charged.

I mean lets face, Luongo after the first couple of games in my eyes was a nailed on certain starter, now a certain sub. With poor results and a poor points tally and desperation setting in the team is being chopped around after every game, this i feel would not suit him....coyb
