Interviews Taking Place
Tuesday, 30th Oct 2012 11:38

Town chief executive Simon Clegg has confirmed that he and owner Marcus Evans have drawn up their shortlist and that interviews with those candidates are currently taking place.

Clegg told the club site that Town had received a large amount of interest from both home and abroad: “We received a number of applications for the manager’s position from many well respected names in football.

“Having sifted through the applicants, we have now drawn up our shortlist and interviews are under way.”

Former Wolves, Republic of Ireland, Sunderland and Millwall boss Mick McCarthy is the leading contender and strong favourite - betting has been suspended by some bookies - to take over from Paul Jewell, who left by mutual agreement last week, but we understand the appointment is by no means yet a fait accompli.

Ex-Charlton and West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is understood to be interested in the role and former England skipper Alan Shearer was spoken to last week, while Blackpool manager Ian Holloway was linked over the weekend.

Could be the Harry, Kevin and Matt Show. Could do a lot worse.

Still could be a surprise appointment.

@barryblue i wonder if we should write to Glenn?

It seems he has an email address in the public domain: enquiries@glennhoddleacademy.com

Dear Glenn,

I'd like to inquire about your availability to fix our club over the next 4-5 seasons. Feel free to bring over some of your coaching staff and players from the academy.

Kind regards,
Marcus

Job done. ITFC on the road back to the big time playing passing football.

I just wish they'd get on with it and put us out of our misery. All the suspense is ruining my margins this month.

Just catching up with all this. The candidates that are being spoken about are so uninspiring! What about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer? Will never happen but least he is an up an coming manager rather than just another failed/sacked manager. An up and coming first team coach would be good with some sort of director of football to go out get the players we need.

I'm in the McCarthy and Holland camp . We don't need Connor to come. Curbishley would be ok. Redknapp would be my outsider but welcome( maybe take Cleggs job)

Holloway suddenly looks to be a real contender. He's now 11/8 with Ladbrokes

TommyB - That's why I'm in the Curbs/Holland corner; Curbs isn't a failed or sacked manager. Took Charlton from third tied to Prem, ok 1 relegation but followed by immediate promotion (1 of 3) left them safely in Prem. Miracle escape with West Ham 7 wins in 9, including Old Trafford. Next season had them going well, mid table Prem before owners betrayed him. Won unfair dismissal case that kept him out the game for a long period. Realistically speaking - Curbs/Holland the dream ticket.

Mick Mc may keep us up in Champ, and one day get us promoted. Track record suggests this is what he's capable of. Likable, honest guy. Just can't keep teams in Prem.

Solskaer turned down Villa...!

Ollie, Bolton would have been better bet, can't see him coming...

Harry - Kevin Bond here at the weekend...(?) hmm..., shocking if it happened !

Clegg and Evans have appoined two donkeys as manager - what are the odds on a third - I'd say, fairly short.
