Dozzell Junior to Sign for Town
Dozzell Junior to Sign for Town
Sunday, 10th Feb 2013 17:02

Andre Dozzell, the 13-year-old son of former Blues midfielder Jason, is set to sign a scholarship with the Town academy, despite reports of interest from Premier League sides including Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in this morning’s national newspapers.

Dozzell senior (pictured), who played for Spurs, Colchester and Northampton as well as his hometown club, told TWTD that his son will soon put pen to paper on agreement to join the Blues' youth set-up full-time when he turns 16: “He’s been offered a scholarship and he’ll be signing very shortly.”

Under the new EPPP system, academy schoolboys who haven’t signed a scholarship can be poached by bigger clubs for small compensation payments.

Andre, a striker-turned-midfielder, has been playing for Town’s U16s this season and was in the team which beat Barnet 5-2 on Saturday.

Jason Dozzell is holding more of his youth coaching courses at Ransomes Sports Club in Sidegate Avenue later this month.

Meanwhile, today marks the 10th anniversary of Town entering administration.

I was under the impression that even if a scholarship was signed in real terms a player could easily be poached by cat A clubs?

Shall we just sell him now to avoid all the Rhodes like grief in a few years time?!

It'll be interesting to see where we are 5 years down the line, hopefully in a better place than we are now!

The club should be attractive to young players as we have a decent youth set up and, let's face it, you have more chance getting into the Ipswich first team than Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs.

He's 13 and playing in the under 16's!
Does this tell us how good Dozzell junior is or the quality of the U16s?
Really hope he makes it

If he can add some pace to his dads touch, then we have a star. No pressure!

Please dont start talking about young and up and coming players on here or you will upset some of the Scotland fans on here who as scored three goals for Barnsley and they only like golden oldies.
