Posh Paint Apology
Sunday, 10th Mar 2013 09:54

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has apologised to fans of both Posh and the Blues whose clothes became covered in what appeared to be paint at yesterday’s 0-0 draw between the two clubs.

According to posts on the TWTD forum, the paint seemed to come from the walls of the London Road toilets.

MacAnthony (pictured left with Posh boss Darren Ferguson), who is based in the US, tweeted in response to complaints from fans after the game: “I'm used to abuse about us losing but about paint is a new one.

“Let me apologise all way from the States about issues today. Club will fix… any items damaged/stained by today's freak occurrence.”

The Dubliner added that no painting had taken place at London Road recently: “Nothing has been painted since start of season guys. It was damp apparently that caused this all.”

On-terrace scuffles are reported to have taken place during the game between angry complaining Town supporters and stewards.

Some fans tweeting last night claimed washing clothes removed the paint. Were your clothes covered in paint? Does it wash off? Add your thoughts and comments below.

Glad they are not trying to gloss over it.

Think this might cost them quite a bit replacing supporters damaged items, on the way out there were loads of people covered in it, and rightfully upset by it.
Have to say though, didn't see any of the scuffles.
Best atmosphere at a game in years, shame we didn't just nick a goal

Too right they hadn't been painted recently. Last time those walls had a lick of paint they'd called Michaelangelo in on an apprenticeship to do it. And i'm not talking about the teenage mutant ninja turtle one either. He took one look at them and said he was going back to the sewer to do his business in as they were newer and cleaner.

it was the paint in the bogs, because it was damp the paint came off the walls and as the bogs are so cramped and some what very dated fans got covered in it, infact it was proberly distemper they are so old lol

I think this whole story is completely un-palette-able, I hope that Posh can quickly resolve the matt-er. This really hasn't left me in a great frame of mind, and really has coloured my opinion of Peterborough.

Another very good reason to avoid relegation. Plenty of these 5* toilets in League 1

Visiting the toilets yesterday, all I can say is that, it's lucky you guys only got paint on your clothes

At least their Chairman wasn't walking on EGGSHELLs when asked about the paint issue.

If this had happens at PR then MM would probably decide to bring in Paul Brush on loan to deal with it.

I went to the toilets feeling unwell, but I was all white when I came out.

The pressure of relegation and now this to contend with, Darragh is going to give himself an art attack.

That's taken the gloss off the point. Its not fair to brush this problem off. Good job some had a second coat to wear.

The toilets had an opposite affect on me. I went in feeling OK and come out white as a sheet!

Bloody typical, they turned my deluxe leopard print Bjorn Borg bloomers into something from the dulux range. I know you are all thinking "why was he just wearing his pants in the mens toilets" it's nothing perverted, all I was trying to do was avoid getting dribbles on my jeans... it's not my fault all the men in that one tiny hot place just gets me salivating uncontrollably. Plus my aim when it comes to urinating is terrible.
