Town Targeting Judge Wednesday, 1st May 2013 06:52
Town are amongst a number of Championship clubs targeting Notts County’s attacking midfielder Alan Judge. The 24-year-old Irishman, who has been interesting the Blues last summer, is out of contract and earlier this week announced that he would be leaving Meadow Lane during the close season.
“There just comes a time when you think it’s right to move on and I’ve given everything to this club, it’s just a matter of a new challenge,” said Judge, who is also on Charlton's summer wish list.
“I’m an ambitious person and I hopefully would like to try myself up another level if that comes.”
He confirmed that he has spoken to a number of clubs but he rules out a move across Nottingham to Forest: "There will be no chance of that. I've got quite a few offers so I'm lucky. Hopefully I'll know where I'm going in the next week or two."
Dubliner Judge started his career with Blackburn but made his league debut against the Blues while on loan at Plymouth Argyle in January 2009, a game which ended 0-0, having made two cup appearances for Rovers.
The former Irish U21 international spent two temporary spells at Home Park, where he played under Town legend Paul Mariner, before moving to Meadow Lane initially on loan in August 2010. He made the switch permanent the following January for an undisclosed fee when he signed a deal until the end of this June.
Judge plays mainly in wide roles but can operate all across the midfield and up front. While at Notts County, where another ex-Blue, Chris Kiwomya, is manager, he made 93 starts and five sub appearances, scoring 17 goals, eight of them during 2012/13.
His diminutive stature, he’s 5ft 6½in tall, energetic style of play and long-range goals have led Magpies fans to don T-shirts bearing the legend ‘The Irish Messi' in his honour.
He was in this season’s PFA League One Team of the Year, having been nominated for the League One Player of the Year award, and won the Magpies’ Players' Player of the Year and Fans' Player of the Year awards during the 2011/12 campaign.

Yes please! Great age and ambitious, with flair and goals. Would be a good replacement for our current midfielder with flair who has more Red / Yellow cards than goals. With so many Town / Irish connections hopefully he'll ask for some advice and they'll tell him what a great club this is! COYB!

Player out of contract, player says he's leaving, player previously linked, not hard to connect the dots, but however this does not fit in with Mick's transfer ethos, if it were true he'd already be in the building! I would like to see it happen but I think this may just be a lingering story.
I commented on here yesterday saying we should go for Judge, so a nice surprise to see this today. Probably a lot of suitors after him, six months ago I'd say no chance, but with our turn in form, and a walk around our place with Mick, I can see players wanting a future here. Not something ITFC should have a hard time convincing!
Yes Yes and another Yes - Good to see , hear of midfielders in the mix - couple like him and maybe St Mirren lad - although know less about him would be just the Ticket Sorry Mick - I love pre season games !!
However, we have already seen that MM keeps targets very close to his chest. Look at the players he has brought in since he has been here. Has there been one that was announced as a target beforehand?
I'm afraid I shall take all such links with a pinch of salt over the summer. Just going to celebrate the ones that say "......... signed today"
