Chippenham Friendly Date Set

A Town XI will play Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division side Chippenham Town at their Hardenhuish Park ground in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 13th July. The kick-off time is yet to be set.

The game was arranged as part of the deal which saw left-back Tyrone Mings join the Blues from Chippenham in December.

Why is it an Ipswich Town XI for this game rather than billed as a pre-season friendly? It's unfair on Chippenham who presumably felt they were going to get some decent Championship players showing up which might attract a bigger crowd. It seems a bit disrespectful to me. Had we gotten a pre-season fixture with Paris St Germain (for example) to look forward to, we'd be less than impressed if a team of youth players showed up.
Don't get me started on Lazio ...

bontcho added 11:21 - May 25 Phil, sometimes the contract will stipulate "a full strength team" or "first team squad" should be taken I believe. Do you know if that's the case here? Should be a good day for Chippenham and SW based Town fans whichever.

Tony added 20:41 - May 26 Another Bath based blue here - I'm on holiday so probably miss this. Where we've lost bristol and Cardiff we've picked up Yeovil, Bournemouth and Reading so really looking forward to the season.
