QPR Release Campbell
Friday, 7th Jun 2013 16:03

Former Town loanee DJ Campbell is reported to be amongst the players to have been released by recently relegated QPR. Campbell, 31, was with the Blues between October and January and ended the season as Town’s top scorer with 10 goals from 17 games.

The striker recently said that he was weighing up a number of options and at the time wasn’t ruling out remaining at Loftus Road: "We're speaking to a few people at the minute, as well as QPR.”

In February, with Blues manager Mick McCarthy having expressed his interest in keeping him, Campbell joined Blackburn on loan, a deadline day permanent switch having failed to go through in time.

However, his season was curtailed in early March by a foot injury after only five starts, two sub appearances and no goals for the Lancastrians.

Whether McCarthy will renew his interest in Campbell remains to be seen, however, an approach seems unlikely until Michael Chopra, who along with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been made available for transfer, has found a new club.

Meanewhile, former loanee Giovani Dos Santos has been linked with a move to the MLS and the LA Galaxy from Real Mallorca, who he joined last summer.

Thanks for helping to keep us in the division, but found out to be a 'money mercenary' so no thanks. Could have easily stayed while he was a 'hero' but having passed over the chance, let him look for work elsewhere.

Would hope that Mick has got the scouts out looking for someone better, younger & cheaper, I have faith that they can uncover a nice new shiny Gem from somewhere. Thanks for last season but take the penalties away & he's not a twenty a season man!!

suffolkpunchdrunk - agree that QPR are spiralling downwards, could be the next Wolves and do not think Harry will be their manager at the start of the season.

We would only be able to afford him if Chopra went. That is the fly in the ointment. as I cant see anyone willing to take him on with all the baggage. Looks like we will be stuck with him for a year....unless we settle his contract....which would not be of any benefit to us financialy.

15k a week kevlowestoft!? Never going to happen!
Half that maybe but I agree with everyone else, until chops goes no need for another striker. I'd be looking at Lee Tomlin or someone of that ilk.

Just saw tommy Rowe only has a year left on his contract too.
