Henderson Close to Loan Return
Saturday, 15th Jun 2013 22:30

TWTD understands that Town are close to completing the re-signing of West Ham keeper Stephen Henderson on a season-long loan.

Henderson spent two spells with the Blues during 2012/13, initially between October and January when he made 16 appearances before returning later that month and playing eight games prior to being recalled by the Hammers after their young keeper Raphael Spiegel suffered a finger injury.

With West Ham recently having signed Spanish keeper Adrian on a free transfer from Real Betis as competition for last season's first choice Jussi Jaaskelainen, Henderson’s opportunities at Upton Park would be limited during the campaign ahead.

The 25-year-old is contracted to the Hammers until the summer of 2015, having joined from Portsmouth, initially on loan, in March 2012.

Town had previously shown interest in signing Henderson on a permanent basis during the January transfer window.

Dubliner Henderson started his career in English football with Bristol City, during which time he spent spells on loan at York City, Weymouth, Aldershot and Yeovil.

Having released Arran Lee-Barrett and Jason Brown at the end of the season, the Blues look set to bring in two new keepers with out-of-contract Tranmere man Owain Fon Williams understood to have been offered terms.

If Mick wants to sign him, fine, sign him. But it would be a travesty if Loach didn't start the campaign between the sticks.

i also want to see loach start as first choice he is our player did great when he came in and loves the club. i cant see the point in signing both henderson and fon willaims.

do we really need 3 keepers of senior staus? how is a young keeper ever going to get a look in if thats the policy us and most other clubs are taking,

managers are so afraid of the sack that they darent even have a young keeper as there number 3

If he want to play for us then he need to sign for us.
That means giving up his lucrative deal with West Ham and taking what we can pay.
Simply choice, Money or Playing

Murphy spent all that time on loan so he could keep his fat salary, signs now because he has to.

Time for footballers to get real.

No more loans!!

Excellent keeper from what I saw last season. Must be hard for Loach though. Didn't MM say something about no more loans at the end of last season? I might be wrong.

You're all saying loans are bad. None of us know what MM and TC are planning. This could be just a press rumour. . .

Why ask the club whether there is a 24 hour recall? They are not exactly transparent when it comes to loan details. Remember David McGoldrick anyone?

Good keeper, but I'd rather not have him on loan. Permanent yes, loan no.

I rate him as a good keeper but I rate loach as a good keeper to and I'm sorry but I would go with loach hands down this is why

Loach is a ipswich player by contract and die hard fan and wanted to come to his boy hood team and i was so happy when town signed him up. He still young and showed and end of season what he could do he looked really good. He could be ipswich number one for a decade if all gd

Henderson is not a ipswich player and on a third loan which is silly why loan players this early I don't get it?. He was giving the chance to come to ipswich but got greedy and went to west ham where he new he wasn't going to be first choice keeper either.

Yes Henderson is a great keeper but so is loach if MM decides to bring in Henderson then fine but Loach Should start season as town number 1 and henderson has to accept being on the bench

I agree with both the above posts, Henderson is very good but in my opinion no better than Loach althogh i thin its obvious by now that MM doesnt fancy him.

Would welcome him back but have to question whether getting its necessary, personally I'd rather we just sign a back up.
