Drury Joins Crawley
Monday, 17th Jun 2013 18:20

Released Blues midfielder Andy Drury has joined his former loan club Crawley Town on a two-year deal, despite having dismissed claims that he had held talks with the League One side earlier today. Drury, 29, spent a successful spell at the Broadfield Stadium in 2011 while with Town.

Drury says he is pleased to be returning to the Sussex club: "I'm delighted to be back at Crawley Town, a few things have changed but to be back here feels great.

“I'm hoping to create and score as many goals as I can in what is a very competitive league next season. I've been impressed by the gaffer and the group of players we have here. I'm thrilled to be back.

Manager Richie Barker added: “What I like about Andy as much as anything is his versatility. He can play in either central midfield or in wide areas. He has terrific energy and can also weigh in with his share of goals.

“He is coming here for the right reasons. He acquitted himself well in the Championship and wants to play at that level again.

“He’s the sort of player I want at the club, someone who is good in possession, works hard and has the right attitude, so I’m delighted he’s coming to us and I’m sure our fans are too because I know he was extremely popular during his loan spell with us.”

The Blues will face Drury and Crawley in a pre-season friendly at the Broadfield Stadium on Wednesday 10th July.

Drury became Paul Jewell’s first Town signing when he joined from Luton for a fee of £150,000 in January 2011. He went on to make 46 starts and 18 sub appearances, scoring four goals.

would have liked him to sign up for us really as a squad player.
we need a 22 man squad but not all players can expect to play every game and andy did well when he came in and never moaned about being left out to the press etc.
Hopefully he can help crawley to promotion this year
