New Boy Anderson Delighted
Monday, 8th Jul 2013 15:40

New signing Paul Anderson says he’s delighted to be a Town player having completed his swap move to the Blues earlier today. The 24-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas moving to Bristol City.

Anderson, who played alongside David McGoldrick and Luke Chambers at Nottingham Forest and Cole Skuse at Bristol City, told the club site: “There has been talk about the move for a couple of weeks now and obviously I’m delighted that it’s gone through.

“Chambo rang me a while back and said he’d heard whispers that I might be coming here. He told me the gaffer was keen but it was only this morning that I actually sat down and spoke with the manager.

“My agent has been in contact with the club and the manager. I’ve left him to do that but as soon as I heard Ipswich were interested in me, I was hoping it would happen.

“It’s a massive club with a great history and has a manager that is a big name in the game. The gaffer really turned Ipswich’s fortunes around last season and the form they showed after his arrival would have had the team right up there challenging at the top of the table.

“You can tell there is real buzz about the place, just from meeting the people behind the scenes and I can’t wait to get going here.

“This is the first time I have seen the stadium in the daylight as well. Every time I have played here, it’s been on a wet Tuesday night.”

Anderson looks set to make his first appearance in a Blues shirt when Town travel to Crawley on Wednesday evening (KO 7.45pm).

That really is an excellent signing. I've always rated this player very highly. Pacey, direct and gets assists.

Anyone else thinking that MM has done a few puzzles before & his ITFC jigsaw is falling into place in good time for this year...?

How come he was a sub so often for a relegated team? Not at all being negative as I don't know anything about him it just seems like if he was as good as we hope he'll be he would've played and started more?

Having read this article I feel a tad excited about this - Anderson, Chambers, McGoldrick have played together before which shows me that MM is being a bit shrewd here, players who will possibly gel together well quickly? And another signing...the ball is starting to roll!

Is he left-footed?
Is he gonna be able to stay injury free?
If JET rips up League One and is sold for silly money do we get a percentage?

I hope the answer to one of those is 'yes' at least!

I *would* say it's a bit of a dodgy scenario when you're buying players released by another championship club, to try and get promoted. but we've only to cite a certain crystal palace to see what is possible...

timsoencero/ quite what is your point? for 1, Anderson was not released, yes tabb and mcgoldrick were, and skuse. but don't see why signing players released by other championship clubs is an issue. if wed signed them while still under contract would you have questioned that?nothing we haven't done before(signing players from other championship clubs). we got promoted in 2000 having signed at least 4 players from other championship teams.

Living in Bath I took in a few Bristol City matches last season and this guy terrorised his full back in almost every game I like his hard working attitude and team ethic which MM is trying to build at Town we are shaping up nicely for the coming season with a couple more additions in goal and defence all looks promising i'm really looking ahead with great expectations for a change now all we need is to unload Copra(we paid JET off so I can see it coming as all the squad will be on roughly the same wage when he's gone no point in paying him to get splinters in his bum and hold back Marriott or whoever from gaining experience!!) he has been a complete disgrace thank god Mr Evans stopped Keano from spending £5 million on him, as a parting shot I know we are all entitled to our opinions but let's all get together for our great club and give the guys in blue and MM/TC the best support possible for what I believe is going to be a successful season ahead.

Surely it is against ITFC policy to have natural wingers and natural full backs in the same squad?!??

This is a truly fantastic signing in my opinion. I don't know why everyone is so bothered about Jet for. He was hardly pulling up trees here and Wenger and now McCarthy have both let him go. He is at a league one club now which I think is his level and I honestly wish him the best of luck because he seems a top guy and I did like him. Just not the type of player to get us out of this league.

I know very little about this guy! Can't say I even remember him playing against us! But, he is here now, so wish him well.

He's a right midfielder; very pacey and a product of the liverpool academy. I can imagine MM trying to convert him to a left midfield. As hes a right footed player would be good to have a left winger cutting in on his right foot.

looking fward to all these new players players that not just happy to put in a shift and earn their wages but players that can make a real difference to us not having a mid table mediocre very boring season yet again but at least a playoff place this season

Exciting signing.

It's consistency that is what will get us promoted, that means consistent footballers which in turn will produce a consistent team.
