McCarthy: We Played All Right
Wednesday, 10th Jul 2013 22:27

Despite having said he's not overly concerned with results in pre-season, manager Mick McCarthy was happy with his side’s 2-1 victory at Crawley Town. Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick (pen) were on target at the Broadfield Stadium.

“I’d sooner be talking about wins than being beaten and I think we played all right tonight,” he said. “I think they played well in the first half, knocked the ball around well.

“In the second half I thought we were probably better. But they’re just finding their feet the two teams that played.”

Aaron Cresswell came off with what appeared to be a thigh injury and his manager hopes it’s nothing too serious: “Cressy’s had to come off, so I hope that’s nothing too drastic, I don’t think it is.

"But then Rocco [David October] comes on and does well, so that was OK. Overall I’m pleased with them.”

I love TWTD, but the grammar and punctuation are in steady decline.

Can't see much wrong on here, Ted. Well, only the quotes, but TWTD is only telling it like it is!

No grammatical errors as far as I can see.

Why the hell are we discussing grammar? I would love it if we were able to appreciate Phil's work ethic, instead of giving him stick because of some minor errors. I guess we got brains enough to get the content.

Some of Phil's usage of the possessive plural apostrophe that I've seen in the past is nothing short of world-class.

I agree with Ted, some of the spelling on this forum is diabollikal

Haha finally I get it. It's not the article itself it's the headline. "we played all right"! Should read alright. Unless of course we played everything through the right hand channel.

Cheers for the apostrophe comment above! 'All right' is more correct than 'alright', least that was what I was always taught!

Oxford Dictionary agrees with Phil. PS Mr Turnip this (brilliant) site is free and it's not good form to complain about free stuff!
