Two Trialists in Town Side Facing Cardiff
Monday, 19th Aug 2013 18:44

Winger Jordan Adekunle is one of two trialists in the U21 side facing Cardiff City at Portman Road this evening. The teenager impressed against the Blues in pre-season for Crawley.

Adekunle was with Charlton as a schoolboy and has played for the England Colleges U19 side.

He was with Ryman League Division One South club Bognor Regis Town before moving on to Crawley’s youth set-up.

Adekunle played for Town’s U21s in last week’s friendly against a Republic of Ireland development side and scored the second goal in a 3-0 win.

Also in tonight's side is Luke Dobie, a 20-year-old midfielder, who is with Bristol City. He was previously with Middlesbrough, Crewe and Everton.

Town will be wearing shirts bearing the name of the club's new U21 sponsor Servest, who have signed a three-season deal.

U21s: Crowe, Veseli, October, Dobie, Fowler, Berra, Winter, Wordsworth, Marriott, Taylor, Adekunle. Subs: Marsden, Berkane, Leddy, M Clarke.

Cardiff: Moore, Coulson, Owen, Kiss, Williams, Oshilaja, Wharton, O'Sullivan, Velikonja, Henry, Harris. Subs: Wickham, Richards, Roche, Southam, Bowen.

Connor Wickham as Cardiff U21 sub??????!?!!! Surely must be another Wickham. Still Connor should have stayed and helped us go up, would have been an integral part of our first team, and a local legend.

I believe it's Bradley Wickham, to my knowledge no relation.

Town two down at half time. Marriott hit the bar. Taylor had a free kick well saved. Wordsworth very quiet and missed a good chance.

Half time - Dobie looks the better of the two trialists by far and one of Towns better performers. Some nice touches by Wordsworth but Cardiff look the more cohesive and slick side. Taylor trying hard but not much coming off for him. Marriot looks a threat.
